Oh dang, that's right! I used to get those adult oriented Lego ads all the time on Instagram. As I was typing that I was thinking that idea sounded familiar but couldn't recall where I'd seen it before.

Even their 18+ non-art sets are starting to act like high-end display pieces. Each of them comes with a little name plate that you would put next to it as if it were on display.

etc etc. When that LEGO Optimus eventually drops it'll probably have one as well.

Unicron and Star Saber are quite in that range as well, I'd argue. Both were presented as glorious display pieces just as much as they were toys.

I think if Masterpiece figures sold better in the US, you’d have a point but I think Hasbro’s price ceiling for TF products is $200. (HasLab Unicron is an outlier, imo).

Lego has A LOT more flexibility with their products and prices. TFs will forever stay at $200 and below. Adult TF collectors who are regularly willing to spend more then $200 exist but it’s too small a pool and too diverse in their interests. The target is small and hard to hit, especially with a mass market item.

HasLab Transformers are the closest we’ll get to Hasbro specifically targeting the adult collector and that’s something that only shows up every 2ish years. Even when it shows up, it’s a divisive piece too and not a sure thing.

I enjoyed it. Granted I also enjoyed WFC and those 2 series are Polar opposites. I definitely agree with the sentiment that it gets better starting in season 2.

I think that's more a side effect of the death of TRU. There's really no place that has room to dedicate to that many high ticket items at once, so those spots go to proven sellers. It's probably the only reason Target does one MPM figure at a time at all. Compared to even Titans and Commanders they take up less space but make just as much money if not more per sale.

If u love Windblade forcibly shoved in your face in the way that Rey (or Rose) was, then u should enjoy it! :thumb

But in my opinion, it's nothing special. Jeckyl/Hyde Grimlock is interesting, but Im not sure it's BETTER.

OH! And be tolerant of gender swapping! Cyberverse relishes flipping genders in order to get more girl bots in the show! :D  10 years from now, forget Rumble/Frenzy color arguments: we'll be arguing whether Skywarp is a boy or girl!

I thought it's easily one of the top 5 Transformers cartoons. But you have to press past the halfway mark in season 1 before the story begins to take more interesting turns. Until that point, it's really pretty annoying. They do ditch radio silly Bee by the time season 2 rolls around. It gets pretty brutal from there...

Clean up on aisles 5 through 15. This isn’t a discussion about collecting habits or what makes people kids or adults. It’s about financial reports. Continued off topic talk will result in thread bans. We collect how we want and I have no need to label people how they collect. As long as we enjoy the hobby for ourselves, that’s all.

    Back on topic, please

I'm kinda hesitant to say anything at all now, after that er 'dire warning'.

So I'll instead link to some of my thoughts posted on the UK discussion instead - just incase anything I say is considered 'off topic' for this thread.

But basically I'm just talking about marketing a brand like Earthspark, Rise of the Beast or Botbots to kids vs Marketing to adults, that sort of thing. which is some thoughts inspired by Hasbro financial declarations contained her in.

That's overexaggerated. Windblade is only "shoved in your face" in season 1 since she's one of the 2 focal characters in that season and there's maybe 4 bots that noticably get gender flipped (Acidstorm, who's character model sporadically flips between the male and female seeker character model, Skywarp, Cosmos, who is barely in the show and Swoop who is only in the 2 finale specials).

I thought they were referring to the discussion about windblade not the previous argument.

Right. She's a main character. She's no more "shoved in our face" than Sonic in his films or Tony Stark in Iron Man.

Once the cast expands, she becomes part of the ensemble. Like Tony Stark in the Avengers. I think by the end of S3 she's basically a background character.

Pretty much, in fact she's written out for a good chunk of season 3
