It’ll be really cool if Michael B Jordan plays mirage.

The toy for Rise of the beast Primal looks pretty close to his animated series counterpart. Any word on other Beast Wars characters looking similar to their original designs?

    The real question is why.

International travel is expensive and it's not like this franchise has a good track record for it being all that necessary if we're honest.

In fairness, we don't know where they went in these locations so if it was a small thing that they needed a certain building for (I.E. Incite HQ in Westworld S3 was Marina One, a residential complex in Singapore) then flying some people out for a quick on-site location isn't too much.

But at the same time, part of film making is illusion and even back in ROTF they used an abandoned American steel mill to represent one in China. It just seems to fit the bad precedent set by TLK where they just go and film on location for literally no point, my favorite example being how they had to go to the trouble of filming on stonehenge which is actually a pretty shitty place to film...and they built a perfect replica right next to it as if they couldn't have just built that somewhere else.

Good point. I definitely agree with the point of all that travelling not being the most economically smart given Paramount's situation. . .

That's not what I'm talking about. If it's within the continental US then it isn't that expensive to move stuff around.

It's the international aspect that racks up the costs of moving equipment around, just for something that frankly is kind of overrated in the bigger picture because as long as there isn't something blatantly wrong with how something is shown, one thing can pass for another. I.E. Quebec was used as a stand-in for New York even though the filming would have taken place in a different country. Given New York is...New York, the need for a faux New York is entirely understandable.

But what could possibly be in London that couldn't be found in the US?

Do you think we'll finally see Peter Cullen as Optimus Prime's holographic driver?

    Neat.
    It is.
I doubt it but I'd love it. Along with the other voice actors cameoing as holo avatars for when they are in vehicle mode

I can't speak for London specifically but you brought up stonehenge and that tied together beast wars and unicron in the show and those are big elements of the film

Indeed but BTF Unicron was a projection from the VOK since they were something in Primals database he was familiar with. I do wonder what specifically they are filming there for like I know they filmed parts of The Flash and The Batman in the UK cause of the gothic old look of places so I'm sure there is a reason and that it will not be London in the film.
Looking it up I think the footage in Albuquerque, New Mexico will be for Peru.

Unicron was not even in Beast Wars, it was just the Vok taking a form Primal was intimidated by, and it wasn't Stonehenge where that took place.

It's honestly shocking that the movies haven't done this yet. Especially Bumblebee. That would have been the perfect place to do it. From what I gather, originally it was supposed to be vague whether that truck is actually Optimus, or just symbolic. Having Cullen driving the truck and maybe giving Bumblebee a friendly nod would have been very poetic and appropriate. Of course the addition of the after-credits scene made it unambiguous that the truck is Optimus, but Cullen as a hologram driver still would have been fun.

That has nothing to do with why I brought up Stonehenge.

Honestly, they built a replica of Stonehenge right next to the actual Stonehenge. How, exactly, would the audience know, the difference between real Stonehenge and fake Stonehenge, if the film only showed one?

THE WHOLE POINT is that you can't. There was not a single reason they had to spend so much money for permissions and getting equipment to the hilariously unstable ground that Stonehenge is built on, when they could have just found a hill in the United States that looked anything remotely the same and built the stupid structure on THAT, and NOBODY WOULD KNOW THE DIFFERENCE. The existence of the fake one they made just to blow up proves they never needed to be at the heritage site whatsoever.

It really is kind of flabbergasting how people don't understand Paramount should be keeping the budget on a tight leash, this international flying around is part of why TLK's budget ballooned so much and became a financial albatross hanging from their necks to this very day. And right now ROTB is well on track for an encore performance for 2017.

And the part where Unicron shows up in the Starscream episode doesn't count either since that's supposed to be a flashback (and because it's Starscream, it was - intentionally on part of the writers - incorrect there as well given Starscream was already dead by the time Unicron got to Cybertron)
