I honestly constantly forget that the Sharkticons even have antenna so their absence here isn't too bad IMO.

It is interesting how different the cartoon model is from pretty much every other iteration of the Sharkticons. Sure, the beast modes are practically the same, but the G1 cartoon is the only version of the Sharkticon robot mode with those pronounced wings and the fin pointing up to make a spike. Even the G1 toy only had tiny panels for the arms to fold onto rather than the fairly significant wings in that animation model. It's kinda rare for these aspects of a character to be so throughly dropped (doubly so when you consider that the toys were designed after the characters for season 3), although I think it's overwhelmingly for the better in this case.

I was hoping they would provide insight into how Gnaw got a non-hollowed out rifle similar to the weapons of G1 figures. I love it and wish it was the standard for all weapons.

The bad thing about putting people on ignore is that you seem to miss relevant parts of conversation. The good far outweighs the bad, especially when the context of the conversation makes it easy to figure out who it is :lol

Anyway, I love these little behind the scenes things the team are doing! I hope we see a lot more in the future!

right I caught that but I wonder what the thinking was behind designing his rifle to be non-hollow when that’s pretty atypical of modern lines

People when some expressed mild disappointment in Studio Series 86 Starscream not seeming as faithful as figures like 86 Wrek-Gar or Jazz, and being just a reuse of an existing Generations mold: "Studio Series is just overflow from Generations, they aren't intended to be of particularly higher quality or source accuracy. You shouldn't expect new or improved molds in this line."

Designer(s) of Studio Series 86 figure: "We planned for the face to be visible like in that one scene from the movie, since that's what Studio Series 86 is all about."

I was wondering about just that weirdness with Gnaw\'s eyes being pushed back yesterday, huh!

Is there an SS line in Japan similar to Henkei?

Nope, for the past few years releases in Hasbro and Takara markets have been almost the exact same. There is a small line of 'Premium Finish' versions, but I haven't heard great things.

I think Premium Finish line for Studio Series is alright, given it either improves upon the deco of the original figure (Ratchet and Megatron) or rereleases a hard to find mold in the aftermarket (BB OP and (presumably) Jetfire.) I won’t deny though that rereleasing one of the worst Bumblebee molds of the line and rereleasing the Optimus mold that doesn’t combine with Jetfire is highly suspect.

I think the problem people have is that Hasbro won’t show something off even when it’s well into production and often already available.
Then again, you probably knew that and just like to create pointless drama. Like so: 90D552B6-BD2D-4693-AD2F-933E54F5C1ED.jpeg

Correct, marketing pretty much decides what gets made, revealed etc

Mark wanted to show the actual Menasor combiner (ie with the actual cars attached and not just a skeleton frame) but Marketing vetoed him.

Only ever saw one Gnaw on the shelf. He was either under produced or people trooped him too hard. Or both.

Doesn’t help that the latest preorder batch is stuck in shipping limbo and not getting to the stores waiting for them

I really love how much these designers really care for the fandom despite the limitations imposed on them for their designs.
