I wonder if it differs individually? I know that on the PvP's review said certain joints on the Legacy version are tighter, but when I watch the other two comparison videos; the reviewers seem to not notice such/much difference (perhaps it's quite subtle). I wonder if the other versions (i.e. generation selects, reformatted) also have difference in joint tolerances.
Mileage varies on Other versions. Some people did not get loose joints. Legacy Galvatron is a Repack they made less of him. My first and second Kingdom were tight... 3rd was a floppy mess. Selects was fine. My in Box legacy might be a floppy mess who knows... I'll find out in about 5 years.
Thanks, I was trying to think whether I should get the Legacy version also; I have the Kingdom version already and its joints are still tight. It would be tempting to get the Legacy version if Hasbro has made modification to the joints (since this is not a bad mold); but from what you are saying, it sounds like there are no changes to the mold (at least no noticeable improvement on the joint tolerances for the other versions) so I guess I'll leave it then.
There's a very noticeable difference. Also, some people tend to rush reviews and glance ovet stuff. Handled several Kingdom Galvatron figures and this was noticeable right away.
I guess I’ll just have to take your words for it since there is no way for me to check; on one hand someone said the galvatron mold varies for them, then you claimed perhaps some YouTube reviewers might have overlooked it (or maybe perhaps their Kingdom version’s joints are quite tight already) while you said it is noticeable (and confirmed by others). I’ll just wait for more reviews I suppose.
If you see him in the wild I would absolutely pick him up if you're happy with your kingdom I wouldn't go out of my way to hunt him down I have Legacy on the shelf selects on the shelf and I mess around with my kingdom and that's my go-to cuz I'm not worried about breaking it... I have Legacy nice and clean and pretty sitting on the shelf on display.
Yeah, if I do see it on the shelf then I might get it. Having read ziltama's comment; it makes me wonder if the original Galvatron mold has been degraded so much (from making the other versions) that Hasbro has to rebuild the mold and in doing so perhaps adjustment has been made to the joint tolerances (just a wild guess). The only reason I asked before is because such change hasn't been made in all the other variants and I find it a little strange Hasbro would specifically alter this version of the mold.
Mold degradation probably isn't a thing on modern toy runs. Molds are sturdier than they used to be and runs are smaller. However, reused molds get less assembly QC usually, which is why you get loose joints sometimes. That's my understanding anyway. What a lot of people call mold degradation is actually sloppy QC. With sufficient QC, a figure should be good for 6-7 runs before degrading.
In that case, it’s just weird that they would suddenly tighten their QC just for this version. Not to say it’s impossible but I just find it odd.
Got a copy the other day. It’s one of those ones that’s so good, it makes some of your other figures retroactively seem worse. It’s just a shame that HasTak needs a significantly larger budget to get to this level. Also, the leg joints on mine are ridiculously tight. It’s directly below the threshold of being too tight. Love him.
If that's the case I'll seek on out to double dip on. Those tighter joints seem worth it for this gem.
I saw a couple of video reviews which said the shade of purple is different between Kingdom and Legacy Galvatron. I'm not sure I see it. Can someone who owns both please confirm?
Yes it is a shade darker on the shoulders head Crest and such. The kingdoms 2 different shades of purple were barley noticable. Legacy pops.
I don't see a difference. There may be a perceived difference as plastic colors may seem a bit different with newly produced figures but then it starts to change with time.
@ziltama I have both figures and @2fabdad is correct. The red eyes are bigger on the Legacy version and fit the eye sockets in the faceplate much better.
The eyes are the same. I've taken apart both heads and have the caliper measurements to show they're the same. However, depending on how the face masks are painted, it may seem like the eyes are 'bigger' on the Legacy version. I notice slightly less paint around the eyes of Kingdom version, leaving a slightly bigger 'black' outline.
