Jesus Christ, this is a topic that just won’t die. I don’t know why everyone clings to this notion of “they could do it if they just did it my way” when Hasbro has lawyers (plural) that have already advised them years ago that this would be trouble. Hasbro, being the wise company they are, has decided to avoid legal trouble and not make a gun Megatron. Never gonna happen. No matter how many wishes for multi colored barrels or what about nerf scenarios you come up with. Just let it go. It’s a boring, tired topic.
What if the just do a Megatron that transforms into an electric drill... But it'll resemble a Walther P38 I think that would get around all the legal barriers.
I don’t think so. Even if they made Megatron turn into the number “7”, it would still resemble a hand held shooty thing and Hasbro doesn’t want the negative press or legal headaches. The lawyers bill alone would eat up all the profits made from a Megatron mold. I’m a G1 guy and would love it as much as you but I don’t see it. (Btw, love your avatar: Skeletor drawn by Mike Mignola, nice)
Honestly at this point the solution would just be to release a tank Megatron but have him come with a pistol thats shaped like his gun mode, like how the Core class figure does. Megatron turning into a gun is kinda useless from toy perspective because you cant even have him wielded by any of the other Decepticons because physics exist.
I just wanted to post something absurd for a laugh, I wasn't being serious. IIRC when Hasbro researched if classics Megatron could be safely sold their legal department gave approval & it surprised them when they did. A few years after it's release there was some reason why that classics Megatron can't or won't even be a "nerf" style gun again but I can't remember why. I would personally like Megatron to transform into a huge fusion cannon gun station that the other decepticons can operate. I'd support a haslab project for Megatron to transform into a life sized walking cane we can use because we're all getting old.
With how Hasbro loves having secret modes like Soundwave’s lamppost and the ROTF Arcee triplets’ combiner mode I find it weird nobody’s thought of engineering a tank-Megatron with a secret gun mode. The tank turret can easily double as a gun barrel. Why hasn’t anyone tried that?
A P38 Megatron is obviously out of the question but it's been bugging me that Hasbro don't make any gun transformers (aside from targetmasters) anymore despite still making Nerf guns. I don't get why a toy made-up gun is okay as long as it doesn't turn into a robot. Surely that's just as likely to get them into legal trouble? I understand why some people don't want Megatron to turn into a gun though. Not everybody knows how to have fun
Whats you talking a bout. A tank is just as fun as a gun lol I mean all it is, is a bigger gun on threads.
I’d love one. But, other than being simpler and less prone to breaking, it would be inferior to the Masterpiece we already have. I’m honestly amazed and happy that thing even exists. I say go for the MP (or a KO) if you don’t already have one. Or, go buy an existing CHUG Megs and pose him in bot mode next to a real P38, lol.
The recent shockwave, although it has extra armor bits and the official alt mode is a spaceship, still turns into a laser blaster
I think the best we could hope for is for a 3rd party to do a gun Megatron in the scale and style of current Seige, WFC, Kingdom, Legacy figures. I'd certainly buy one. Even if they still end up doing one in wacky bold colors for safety reasons.
Even 3rd parties are probably not going to touch a project with so many inherent legal problems. It all comes down to this: it's never going to happen. No, none of your top secret ideas will help. No, coloring it bright colors will not help. No, you don't have a new way to accomplish this that no one has thought of yet. And no amount of wishing or internet posting will change that.
Hegemon in my display case disproves that idea. Hasbro, though, is unlikely to ever take the risk again.
What I'd like is a transforming Megatron made from ABS and designed to look like G1 Megatron -- but with a made up alt-mode so that the robot mode doesn't have the compromises WFC Megatron made for his tank mode. I wouldn't be opposed to a Leader pricepoint with extras that attach in alt-mode if it gets us wrist rotation and articulated knuckles. I lean towards the idea of him coming with an accessory that looks like a Walther with a 5mm post grip (which can be wielded by Megatron or Starscream) but which integrates into Megatron's alt mode. Hasbro has been willing to do smaller scale Megatron pistol accessories such as the one with G1 Starscream's rerelease. I'd be happy with one that comes with Megatron and combines in his fantasy alt mode.
