It's all subjective I guess. This is so minor (for me) that I don't see it as a big deal.

 

Oh this is not even my biggest gripe just some one else brought it up earlier and it has snowballed.


My biggest gripes are the underplank not even making a convincing toy or animation wingburger If it's going to have and under kibble. and the gap the tankboner has the tank front.

Made more annoying do to the underplank also forming fake wings in robot mode wile unable to make real wings in jet mode wile sticking out almost as far. Maybe a rotation could have been put some where to orient them the right way. Whose to say. Same with the tank boner a slide or the robot chest moving forward to hide it more would have helped

Then it has fairly clever transformation bits like the wings wrapping around the legs. Or how cleanly the treds actually do fold up in robot mode that make the issues it does have more apparent

 

I don't see why is there an obsession to these 'fake wings'; to me they are there just to complete the bot mode silhouette and nothing more. I think someone has talked about a slider joint (for the 'tank boner') and why Hasbro is not using it earlier so I won't talk about it.

 

The actual fake wings do not bother me it's the underslab it's self as it just feels like it's pointing backwards. When I mentioned wings I was just trying to point out a way to try to blend it in and make it more like the original wingburger

If I ever get it I will just keep the wing tips folded in for bot mode no big issue there

I'm conflicted about Blitzwing. Robot mode looks really good, tank mode is nice but jet mode looks bad. I have the Takara Legends one that is a fine representation of the character, but I miss some articulation points that are now standard in current figures. On the other hand, the Legacy version is much more expensive and not every aspects of it is an upgrade. Maybe keep my fingers crossed for an MP version?

 

I just have to ask, WTH were they thinking with the hands?
The designer must have had some sort of intent for them, but they look like a janky afterthought in all modes.

 

They do look kind of cool as missile pods.


Although it is a bit odd they seem very similar to the Energon Combiner hands.

 

My guess is they needed a cheap add-on to pad the budget for the figure and it was crunch time and someone thought "Ah. Prime Wars hands... There we go!".

 

Something about these add-ons scream "Build-A-Bot" as if they are intended to go with/create someone else.

And I LOVE how these look as missile pods.

Heh. Yeah. Handy jet boosters there. Get it? Please don't shoot. They really don't work there, do they?

While rather oversized, do like think they work pretty well as rocket launchers, though.

If they were the only weapons provided, that would be pretty awful, but we got two decent guns and a nice sword. No complaints from me at all. (on weapons. That jet mode is a whole other thing. The G1 style bi-plane wings would have improved that a lot.) What about poor PotP Grimlock? He just got two big feet (sorry 'arm claws') as weapons! Granted they had a function for Vulcanicus (which makes me wonder if these are also intended for something down the line, albeit an optional thing since Blitzwing isn't part of a combiner) but to not even get his trusty double barrel rifle was pretty bad. I think those dinobots were the first time I went the third party route to get their weapons. At least the other figures got one of their weapons along with their shield/hand things.
