This looks great.

Kinda regret buying the IF one right now, this one looks so much more fun to me. Plus the vehicle mode will definitely be an improvement.

But the fun is the most important thing, epecially since the IF one is so finicky to play with, everything gets in the way.


Might’ve now sold me on a galvatron from them too.

 

damn… this looks great. i was about to pick up IF cyclonus too. not sure if i should now.

i think i’ll still pick up IF but get the regular mold from NA. its tough call

 

I might have to get the newage Unicron trio to go with my studio cell. I'm assuming they're doing a Scourge at some point?

Sheee-it, I am now regretting my decision to sell off my IDW Legends figures.

 

I continue to regret not getting into the legends stuff earlier. I know I want this figure, but would Darius ex be a good place to start with other newage stuff? I think I'm just going to rip off the band aid and start a legends collection.

don't feel too bad at overlord you aren't missing much. i have had a few of them over the years and each time i always sell them off.

the MFT version is just a better version of the fig and scales nicely with the other bots.

I have the IF one and he looks superb, but he is finicky and the altmode kinda bites.

 

Odd decision to remold so much (head/face, hip skirts, swords), but but don’t give him claw-like fingers with which to cut himself with?

 

Did Cyclonus ever have 2 swords in the IDW comics?

It looks like one sword is shorter than the other. Love that detail of a katana and a wakizashi on a samurai inspired figure.

 

Is the MFT an upscaled knockoff of the IF? I haven't looked it up before but they look like the same figures.

 

yeah it is the upsized KO but it works really well with all the IF figs and it even has the extra improved idw head. the IF fig is just too small doesn't look right with the other heavy hitter figs if you ask me.

to me phase sixers should be larger in general. but to each their own.

holy crap, seeing Newage tackle an IDW design is very exciting! I mean I’m sure this exists only because it’s a not too extensive retool but hopefully it opens the door for more IDW stuff to come.

 

Hmm I guess you’re right that the thigh armor just tabs in via partsforming between modes, at first I was hopeful that they were integrated into the transformation. That makes the IDW version a pass for me but I’m all in on the regular one.

Still hoping against hope for a BM Jetstorm-themed repaint with a new head, but I doubt it will happen.

 

Yes, those are just like some accessories. I didn't even expect to have a place to store it on alt mode, so for me this is still a smart design, as those tabs serve for the transformation too. For that, I can also understand why some won't like it. NA haven't fully gone for SG or IDW original figures yet, at least for now.

 

Darius EX is where I started and I immediately preorder Tyr and have Toon Lucifer on the way. Darius is amazing and lives at my computer desk because I can hardly ever put him down.
