Honestly, that's the better option, anyway. You save time, money, and gas by doing so. When I buy a laptop, I always open it in the car to check for pixel defects (of any kind!) on the display panel before I leave so I don't have to make two trips and have it all be such a waste.
Got mine today. Initially went to Target to inquire about getting the debit red card so I can get Road Rage, but I needed a blank check to do it in store. So I decided to check on the Silverstreak stock, and found that in 1 day half of them were gone already, so bit the bullet. A bird in the hand is worth 2 in the bush, after all. I did notice that the shoulder blasters are a tiny bit loose, but not so badly as to be a concern. Transformed just fine and had no significant gaps, so I'm happy with it. Definitely going to do the headlight mod, and I'm thinking of maybe trimming down the front a bit to differentiate him a bit more from Smokescreen. Now on to the hunt for Road Rage.
Spent longer time transforming him from Bot to alternate mode, you know, aligning the panels all that so that I can close the gaps nicely. (I could have sworn that I achieved this faster with Silverstreak...Or Bluestreak...Or... Whatever.) Even with that time spent, there are still minor gaps near the spoiler portion. But the good thing is, all joints are nice & tight on my piece, even for his shoulder mounted cannons so not too much to complain about here.
This box contains Silverstreak.... This is a hammer.... Opening time! And he's perfe-gawdammit!! Jk he fine lol
I didn't get any of the Earthrise 'Datsun Brothers' because getting all of them at a reasonable price was near impossible (the original Bluestreak preorders were gone in seconds from my regular online retailers) and I wasn't really fond of Earthrise Smokescreen's headsculpt. . I did manage to get the Siege versions, though, but I've really wanted a blue Bluestreak for ages (and that's what I'll be calling him). This guy's a must have for me.
I've a couple different moders (including here in Radicon's Customs) make so the headlights on the datsun boys are recessed like on the originals. I know at least one person simply shaved them down to contour the headlight molding on the inside. And I've seen a 3d print replacement set as well IIRC. Edit: Here's one I just found. G1 Headlights for Earthrise Prowl by TheLazyEyebrow on Shapeways It says it's for Prowl, but I imagine it will work on any datsun bro.
Oh, I see; that looks cool. But, man, I wish he'd gotten the proper front bumper/chest. It's the one thing holding me back.
Yeah, that's why I'm looking to chop mine up a bit at least. Actually I have a Siege Bluestreak junker. Maybe I can use some of it's parts. I just wish he had a better name. Initially I was thinking of giving him the GS Hot Shot head and making him into a G1-ified version of him, but it just doesn't feel right. I still want to give him a head swap (maybe a universe Prowl head?), but I still want a better name than corporate copyright avoidance not-Bluestreak.
I'd just call him Bluestreak (or Bluestreak I) . He was the original after all. In the end, though, it's your shelf and your canon. Seriously, though, I wish they'd reissue some version of Runabout in a similar manner. It's just ridiculous Hasbro doesn't reissue figures like that. I'd be happy with a Buzzworthy one. The original can keep it's 'value' (which I suspect is Hasbro's real intention,) and the rest of us can have some form of the character.
Hasbro isn't concerned in the slightest about the supposed value of toys like this. Why would it be? The most likely reason Hasbro doesn't re-release things like this is that part of the arrangement that brought about the exclusive toy is a requirement that it remain exclusive to the company that comissioned it.
Here he is with the upgrade headlights. I think that it turned out pretty well but the colour matching was a bitch.
ah crap, i thought it was just painting the headlight chrome part , but i see you have to paint some blue too? i just wasted my money
