This is probably the next step. After all, the Leaders are already going to this level, gen selects does it, several exclusives, MP, etc. Everything bought online is purchased sight unseen even with a window in the box. No one bats an eye and there's rarely a problem. (And yet I'm still cringing at the idea of not being able to check my figure over before sliding it across the counter...)
It will be a pain in the ass to buy and return figures until I get one with and acceptable paint job. I’d probably start opening figures in the car before I left the parking lot.
True. Of course, knowing retail the way I do, next thing you know, they will probably force returns to be "saleable." You open, you buy it. That's when I will probably stop buying in store.
I thought it was funny that Bluestreak (Silver one) kept his name and then Autobot Silverstreak (blue one) got a unique name
I'm calling this one Bluestreak. The original silver one will be Silverstreak. Or maybe call them Gene and Richard.
To be equally honest, those workers aren't paid enough to care if random kids literally tear open packages even. I've seen just as many windowed toys torn open and damaged as I've seen non-windowed toys with missing heads. The ones I've noticed tend to have more damage is those animal and monster figures with articulated parts that have no packaging at all, just a label. Either way, it really isn't as big an issue as it's made out to be. Plus you have to consider that Hasbro's carefully calculated altruistic reduction of plastics and package size has nothing at all to do with protecting the environment and all to do with a boost in PR. I'm confident that to them the potential loss from damaged toys is not significant enough to outweigh the gain from reduced packaging costs.
I looked last night after Target.com showed that my store had 7 in stock, but still nothing. It still says they have it available for pickup. I guess I'll try that, but I worry I'll receive one of the millions of Origin Bees they have on the shelf.
Found a bunch at another Target today. Interestingly the one I bought's head pops off when you turn it unless you apply some downward force.
Try applying some superglue to the ball joint. Just be sure to keep the head off until it fully dries, lol
Not sure if you’re joking or not but yes, the head popped off the one I held too. I was just trying to get a good look at the paint detail when I turned the head slightly…then pop goes the head, bouncing away on the floor.
Yep, that turned out to be the case. I got mine and the tab is still down flush with the box, never hanged on the shelf. Very glad I went through with it. I always love the Diaclone homages.
