Absolutely insane how much work and effort goes into designing a Transformer. Thank god we have CAD software nowadays.

It's funny, my reaction to Arcee is her face gets even creepier up close, so the toy accurately reflects that. Wheeljack's vehicle mode looks pretty much as good as their concept design. I wish Brawn had as nice a vehicle mode as his concept version. We've already talked out Soundwave, but seeing the center-mounted cannon in vehicle mode is disappointing.

I think the thing I notice most with soundwave is that all the concept art envisions his vehicle mode with an opposite layout to what they ended up with, which is his arms forming the front of the car and the legs folding under and forming the rear. I'm guessing there was a compromise made at some point that forced them to reverse that and led to a less satisfactory vehicle mode.

    Cobra Commander alt head confirmed.

Also, between "Sam Smith," "Mark Maher," and "Ken Christianson" there must be some kind of alliteration rule to work on Transformers.

They will. Core is no-man's-land where scale and non-scale collide. That design will return in the proper numbered releases.

How big are Vertebreak and Dracodon? We don't know because Rattrap is roughly in scale but everyone else isn't.

honestly makes me wonder why they are doing big scale characters in the core class scale. Are they planning something to coincide with them in the future?

If you mean like Optimus and Megatron, they're doing these as small, pocket-money priced versions of important characters. Not much more to it at the moment.

They already said why. It's a way to deliver popular characters at a price point and complexity that younger ages can enjoy.

I mean toys are getting so expensive that it’s honestly probably the only way to get the bigger name characters to kids who can’t ask for a larger purchase.

I mean we used to get everyone in 3 different size classes before anyways.

I love the level of detail and emphasis these images provide on how two teams worked together to provide alt modes that are genuinely alien and feel very much that they belong on the mechanical world of Cybertron.

Wow, this is nice and interesting stuff. Wish Hasbro shared such things on their HasbroPulse channel but here is great too.
