Yeah I don’t want to share it with a group, you know the whole to many chefs in the kitchen kinda thing. Plus I don’t want to show it off and have people be like aww man why did you change it? Can I order one like it was before? Or many you can change this one thing for me? I want to finish it and just print it without constant changes. If that makes sense?
I dont know that there is any one reviewer who is an expert in turtles toys as most of them review a wide range of stuff to engage audiences and gain more views. I dont know how your approaching them but I would just tell the one you pick something along the lines of "hey I made x product and am thinking of producing these en masse, if I send you the prototype can I depend on you to help give me guidance on the design of the product?" Honestly you'd probably be better choosing a friend or someone else besides a reviewer. For example if I were creating a product I would probably send one or two out to individuals I see a lot in the thread that pertains to the product. I.e. if it was a turtle product I would likely ask @chrisr291 , @fschuler , @Capirus , or @redrum2581 and these are in no particular order these are just the names that come to mind who have heavy interest in the subject matter and whom I have gotten to know and believe they would be of better help than a random reviewer whom I have never interacted or had little interaction with.
So original I was gonna use AEW Shika for April and someone had the nerve to mention it being a perfect movie Karai stand in, I can't remember who said that but thanks I haven't been able to get that out my head so now I had to switch my April up and I'm going this route She's even in yellow, oh just wait til y'all see Casey and the whole setup thus summer, this will by far be my craziest dio. Still gotta find a set of Shadow Dancers.....er Shadow Warriors
Good suggestion I’ll put some thought into it and make a decision here soon. Need to go into production soon.
Apologies if this has been asked & answered somewhere in the last hundred pages -- how do the Target retail figures scale with Super7's? Looks like they might be similar or slightly smaller scale?
Are you talking about the neca line? Neca is smaller. 6 inch scale and super 7 is 7 inch scale. This is neca, super7, playmates
scalpers are funny. like 4 sets of mecha bebops and 5 sets of scumbugs gone from last week would have really liked to get that scumbug and mutagen man sets. maybe neca will keep replenishing. at least i was able to snag the turtles i guess.
But I think Trailbreaker is looking for an expert on the show itself, not quite so much the product itself? At least, that's how I took it. And we all know @fschuler 's memory of the show is fuzzy at best! But that's why I suggested Raz Rentals. His "reviews" are reviews, but also so much more, since he really covers the entire history of a character from the source material with tons of screenshots. He appears to know the original 193 episodes basically inside out. And he seems to only do occasional reviews when he has time, not as a side hustle or full-time job. He's sometimes months behind, as a result. And the majority of his videos are TMNT-based. So he actually is a genuine Turtles dork, rather than someone just trying to make some YT money. If he didn't respond to you pretty quickly @Trailbreaker77 then it might just be because he really only does the videos when he can, so he might not have had time for it just now. For example, he just recently reviewed the Attila & Napoleon 2-pack, even though he's had it since September, just because it took him until now to get around to opening them and doing the video. I mean, I even rewatched all 193 episodes not too, too long ago myself, but Raz is practically like a walking Turtle encyclopedia. I think technically both NECA & S7 label their lines as 7" (I think NECA comes up as 7" on Target's site), but like @Bryan Thornton showed with the picture above, they are not the same size. The cartoon NECA figures are like 6" or maybe even 6.5" scale, while the S7 are more solidly 7" scale. And then the NECA movie line is actually slightly bigger than the S7 line, I think (not completely sure, since I only get the cartoon NECA). At least I remember seeing a picture comparing a Turtle from all 3 lines, and the shortest was the cartoon NECA, the tallest was the movie NECA, and the S7 was almost exactly halfway between in height. But then there are also differences based on character. For example, the NECA Toon Rocksteady & Bebop are, like almost every other toon character NECA has done, pretty accurate to other characters in terms of show appearance-scaling. Where, conversely, S7 has "oversized" certain characters like B&R compared to their original figure line-scaling where most characters were pretty similarly sized, in order to make them more "beast-like" as I think most people visualize them. But it probably depends on how picky you personally are with scale matters. If you're very fussy about it, they may not be close enough to fudge. If being a little off doesn't bother you, you could probably fudge them. Bigger NECA characters and smaller S7 characters are probably easier to blend together scale-wise. But I think the bigger difference is in aesthetic. I don't think very many of the NECA figures (toon or movie) would look "right" alongside the S7 figures. But that's probably another personal decision. So it probably depends more on your personal tastes and what exactly your goal is here.
Yeah the neca ones mix okay with other neca and super 7 stuff imo. some may not like it, but most turtles figures usually made are out of scale and too big. If you are going with the toon style turtles from the wolf/murakami 80s show, (or the original mirage comics) their actual height is fairly short, most average humans should be taller than them, and any large mutants/monsters should stand over them, rather than be neck to neck, which is more a production convenience when they make stuff in the same style/size etc. I appreciate that both collector lines have made an effort at scale. It may seem insignificant as far as toys go, but I would argue the turtles being small light weights is part of their character and story, and shows how they really have to use team work and superior skill to overcome larger opponents like say a Triceraton warrior or whatever.
Going off what I think these are in order left to right: Neca mirage, neca movie, super7, playmates, revoltech (or figma or even bst axn? Not sure which), neca cartoon, neca toon. I probably should have actually went to the site to see what these are but I was mainly looking for the neca movie vs super7 difference. The main thing being really scale is something that can be fudged with these a lot. I mean they are "mutants" and can come in any shape or size. The ones that may be hard to fudge in would be human characters. Even foot soldiers were robots (in the toon) so size could vary but with a character like April or Casey it may be harder to mix something shorter with something taller, if that makes sense.
Dang, shf. I knew it was a foreign company but I couldn't recall which made them. (Bst axn did make them though there's are pretty crude so probably could have ruled that one out to be honest.)
Well the thing is the Turtles were shorter than everyone else in the show, so some of the other figures are a bit "bigger" and closer to the 7" that are claimed. Also when you forget that there was another 4pk
That makes sense. I would imagine manufacturers use focus groups or "test" audiences (or something to that effect) when developing stuff. It sounds like you might be looking for some feedback, and I was just offering some assistance! And, I understand your desire to finalize a design and not constantly have to tweak or modify things. Keep on the reviewers. I would think some of those guys probably get asked to look at (and possibly promote) a lot of things. Either way, I'm interested in seeing what you're working on when you get it to that point! I'll have you know that I have strong flawless memories of AT LEAST two of the seven turtles and the mouse that raised them!
Sorry, that was me. My bad. I picked up a McFarlane Batgirl unmasked recently because I was thinking her head may make a decent April replacement. Funny enough, I think the Batgirl head is actually smaller than the NECA April. Lol. It might pass for a custom but I'm not sure if it would quite work for the cartoon. Maybe if the hair was painted. Whatcha think?
How could I have forgotten that gem?!? Looks like you must have missed that one episode out of the 193 that retconned the other 192 episodes so that Fievel Mouskewitz was actually a rat named Splinter all along, Doc was actually Doc from GI Joe that slipped through a multiverse portal or something, and Bashful was bashful so he had an excuse to not speak since he was actually an undercover Foot Soldier the whole time! Looks like someone better get that complete series while it's only $24!
