The more in-hand pictures I see, the stronger the urge to purchase is. Who knows? Maybe if I see the wave in-store, I'll finally fold on purchasing Femboy Arcee.
I was able to get her this Monday and yeah I'm really liking her more then I thought. Mostly on how they went a more creative route with the transformation and how they offered options on how you want to display her backpack. As for her design while I'm still not a fan of how she's more bulkier looking given that she's supposed the more slim looking character of Prime I do like how compared to Bulkhead and what we've heard of Legacy Knockout she's done the best job at actually looking like what she's supposed to be representing. That being said I still get how this isn't going to appeal to everyone because as I've said before the way Legacy and for that matter almost all of Generations hasn't done the best favors for the non G1 crowd in general though we do have a few nice examples of this such as T30 Starscream and the BW cast in Kingdom last year. I mean Thew said it himself in his Legacy Bulkhead review that Prime Bulkhead wasn't really done a favor by the mold he was given and more like the mold was done a favor by being Prime Bulkhead. Sure Legacy Prime Arcee is a better exception but even then I can see how one can feel that the mold may or may not have been intended for someone else. So I don't see why we should bregrudge those who wanted the Prime character as well as the UT cast to have updates more along the lines that the G1 and BW crowd have gotten in WFC especially since Legacy is meant to be taking the legacy aspect of characters more serious then before.
I’m feeling the same. I always thought the alt mode looked great but wasn’t as keen on the robot mode. I just have to figure where to put her in my G1 collection…
Honestly I kinda wish this character would have gotten a new name so she could be distinct from her G1 self on my shelves. That's the only reason I'm skipping this one.
After some time, I have warmed up to Arcee. I really don’t want to since there are still problems I have with it, but I may consider Road Rocket if I see it. Still won’t budge on Arcee though.
I saw Skids at my local Target and even though I didn't plan on getting him I did think he looked a lot better in person than the photos Hasbro has been releasing. So I hope to be able to find Arcee and Bulkhead soon enough.
Making some jumps from a post that doesn't mention G1. You can absolutely stylize G1 designs and still maintain the Generations look. It's not like it's one-to-one Sunbow/Marvel anyway (thank God.) For example, they could have ditched the cockpit in front of Blitzwing's tank mode and made the jet have treads without altering the overall art style of Blitzwing. They could at any time use the evergreen design of Bumblebee in the current art style and that would be a complete overhaul from his G1 design. Can do the same thing to many other characters. I personally wish they would give Hot Rod, Kup, G1 Arcee and others like them Earth modes while maintaining the current art style. In Arcee's case, I want more car kibble being integrated into her bot mode. That's still forgoing accuracy and stylizing them.
Seems to me like that's probably the intended transformation for her. The stock transformation is more suited to known repaint, Road Rocket.
What's stopping you from using her as a different character? Hasbro repurposes toys all the time. There's nothing that says you can't do the same.
Here on Earth people share the same name. No reason it can't be the same on Cybertron. Personally, I will be using her as Earth mode Arcee after she decided to get a major makeover.
My display headcanon involves multiversal travel anyway (long before it became a fad) so she’s just Arcee from another universe.
True but this is a bit different. It's not like G1 and G2 Sandstorm, which are blatantly different characters. This is a new interpretation of the same character.
Their appearances are just as different and personalities are almost as different. You can take them as different characters even if the original intent wasn't that.
That’s exactly what I had in mind. In my WFC+ collection it’s perfectly normal for characters to use multiversal travel.
I wouldn't begrudge someone for seeing it that way, but to me the intent is important. The intent saves me money
