    *shrug*

I haven't bought one so I wouldn't know how they compare to other figures in the Legends/Black Series/Lightning Collection.

They're basically like you made a KO figure out of the material of Marvel Legends joints.

Bendability doesn't mean bad quality. It's a very good quality, because bad quality = "breaks instead of bends."

Transformers usually have more rigid plastic because they're engineered to convert, and you can't have something rubbery fit together well. The rubberiness isn't proportional to the quality of the plastic. Sometimes you want rubberier plastic! Nonconverting action figures can use rubberier plastic, because honestly that makes them sturdier. They bend instead of break.

I watched one of the first reviews of RED G1 Optimus and the reviewer described the plastic as having a wet, almost oily texture. Wonder if those will start to “bleed” over time.

We were robbed. Even if that's pretty much just parts glued together on a base, it's SO MUCH BETTER than the actual Kingdom Cheetor.

If all you want is a good looking Cheetor that can't transform might I recommend the RED version?

I’m referring to the design of the tail, specifically. For Ravage uniquely, it’s okay that it just hangs there in robot mode. But I wouldn’t want that for Cheetor or anyone else. Even if the whip sucks, I’d rather that tail come off.

I'm thinking the RED version used this as the basis of it's modeling, aside from not having the cheetah legs on the thighs.

That doesn't stop them from including a gun and not integrating it like they did with Tigatron

To be fair, that all depends on how many parts the weapon is. 3d upgrade designers and Dna Design opted for a multipart design that integrates well with the cheetah mode and doesn't make it look fat or pregnant. Granted, Hasbro's option would have been a single piece like in this concept figure or on Tigatron, but it is possible to successfully hide a weapon on a cheetah, if the budget allowed for a multipart weapon.

I have that upgrade and hate that it makes the rear of the cheetah anatomically incorrect. Knees bend forwards, not backwards.

That upgrade doesn't change anything about the base figures articulation o_O  it's just poorly posed in all of the images.

This feels like an obvious joke... but then half this thread believes the mock-up is an actual transforming toy so I don't know what to think.

Acknowledging that I am splitting hairs and this is personal preference, I only partially agree. If you pose him normally, he winds up with far too much of a butt shelf and the tail is too long.

There’s a reason the stock photos have his hips extended and knees bent the wrong way: it makes for better central mass and a more appropriate looking tail.

It’s a minor quibble, but I don’t at all find the add-on to be a perfect solution to a lithe cheetah needing to incorporate the gut gun.

Fair points, and I never said it was perfect, just that it was possible. If Cheetor's tail was more like Tigatron's and didn't have the axe blade on it then the setup would look significantly better with the stock transformation.

Then they probably would have had to axe the removable tail, which would have meant (even if it was hinged) his bot mode would have the tail hanging off the back (likely pinned). So now his bot mode is even less accurate and because of its location on his beast mode would make it a pain in the ass to pose even if you wanted to fold it up and pretend it wasn't there.

HasTak are well aware of the upgrade industry, so in this case the decision was probably to stick with the removable tail (molded in to a Transmetal reference) and accept the upgrade market (or a hypothetical accessory pack later) could implement a better Gut Gun that the few people who cared that much could opt for if so inclined.

Yeah, I've seen that, and it's clearly developed with posing the legs Wrong to make it look okay. Once you pose the legs the way you're SUPPOSED TO, in a way a cheetah's legs actually bend... it does not fit in well.
