I grew up on G1, kind of grew out of Transformers before G2 really hit, and didn't get back into them until Dreamwave and Classics. Armada came out in the fall after I finished college. I kind of had other priorities; finding an apartment, finding a job, getting married, etc, and even if I wanted to collect Transformers at the time I definitely didn't have the money. While I respect that there are big UT fans on these boards, I'm not one of them. I have zero attachment to this version of Megatron.

And yet, I just ordered a copy. The stuff I've been seeing, with all the gimmicks and compartments, the relatively easy transformation, the sheer presence the figure exudes... I'm getting the same sort of vibes I get from FT's Overlord. In fact, Overlord's a lot like Armada Megatron in that, despite being a G1 character, I was largely unaware of him until I watched Masterforce as an adult and I didn't have a strong desire for an Overlord figure, per se, but Fans Hobby's figure was simply too awesome to pass up (and is still one of my favorite releases from them).

Yeah, Armada was way after my time, but I've always liked the Armada Megatron design, so this was a no-brainer. And with the figure's ease of transformation and all the cool gimmicks upping the playability factor, I would have no qualms getting this again in other colors. Heh, the size helps- its smaller than I expected (and apparently still bigger than the original toy, heh, without context, it always seemed like a huge figure to me in pics), so unlike the Power Basers, it doesn't seem like a huge space consumer.

Though there are plenty of reasons to enjoy Fans Hobby's take on Armada Megatron, a key one for me is he now has knees.

To celebrate, here's a photo of him not using them.

They don't want us placing faction symbols where they should go sometimes, do they?

    20220317_111059.jpg

    Advantage: Napalm.

And a sublimely well executed headsculpt is capped off by that screaming face. Even though I don't care for the generically 'orrible anime villain monster thing it seeks out to achieve (I fucking hate anime), it doesn't just achieve it, it fucking nails it. It even makes me like it.

And for that, I raise a glass.

Ah sheet, I need to place some faction labels on mine. I really dig this figure and their Optimus. Just waiting to see more of Tidalwave.

I can say without hesitation there’s an unmistakeable amount of that FH/Double Evil DNA in Meg Tyranno.

I remember the scene where Megs and Prime clenched their fists together and my mother was like, "oh jeez what are they trying to do each other? Push each other until they submit?" :lol  Ah good times....

Never mind the cartoon; it’s like this scene was pulled from game!

Problem with Hot Shot is the bumper shoulder design. If he had ball jointed shoulders and they were like shoulder pads/armour instead on a FH MP it’d do wonders for the design. I’d love to see what FH could do with the smaller Armada characters I’m actually surprised they haven’t teased any yet.

Doing the Headmaster JRs at $85 or so was a smart move on Fans Hobby's part. Voyager sized figures in the $80 range used to be Third Party's bread and butter, but with the G1 MP crowd taking over it's moved up to about $120-$150 for entry level figures. Below a hundred keeps it in that impulse buy range. This is a roundabout way of saying that I feel like a line of smaller UT figures at the same price/scale/quality as the Headmaster JRs would do quite well. Hot Shot, Cyclonus, Demolishor, Sideways, Noise Maze, Energon Starscream, etc would all be good.

Especially since the Armada/UT guys where even closer to the toys than the late-G1 designs, so it should be no problem for them to do them at the lower prices.

To be honest I agree and think they’d be able to get away selling Armada dudes at 80 to mostly account for the extra plastic and engineering going to the Mini-Con.

Prime and Megatron went for around 150/180 depending on where you bought from so I imagine Overload and Jetfire will probably go for the same due to the engineering and size. Tidalwave I wouldn’t be surprised if he pushed 200 maybe even 230 at places like BBTS.

I’m definitely all in for them though I’ve got this hunch they’ll start with Demolishor I don’t know why it just feels like the choice they’d make. Either him or it’ll be Sideways due to being able to reuse their headmaster gimmick engineering they’ve already established with the G1 stuff they’ve done.

@Nova Maximus i believe the show designs were based on the toys, so no real wonder there why they’re so accurate. I know Cybertron really proves it since the majority of the transformations are 1 to 1 with how they transform on the show.

Tidal Wave will probably be around the same price as their Overlord as they are around the same size give or take, although maybe a bit cheaper due to the simpler design.

Yes they are legit. And with places like Showz being sold out it's probably the best price you can get right now for the guy.
