Drag Strip is here and he is an absolute delight Alt. Mode: Robot mode: Not much to say besides it's G1 Drag Strip and he's really cool! I've got no problems with him, transformation is nice and smooth, he poses well, looks great all around. If anyone is wondering about his arm mode, no, it is not included in the instructions, sadly. We'll have to wait for Motormaster on how to form them it would seem.
Love mine, but i've noticed his spoiler halves wont sit flushed with eachother in car mode. Anybody else notice that?
I'd prefer to see the Combined mode (or at least what they're going for) before I invest, but I also don't want to miss out on this guy. So I guess I'll end up getting him... He looks nice at least, even if he is very yellow.
Man, he looks gorgeous. While I'm in on him simply because I want Menasor, I'd be hard pressed to resist him as a standalone.
Seeing as I display combiner teams in component robot modes, seeing how good Drag Strip on his own is gets me hyped for combiner teams going forward. This is the way.
What’s neat (IMHO) is that Dragstrip has been the first team member in both CW and Legacy. Looking forward to this guy.
Got to mess some more with him today and got some pictures of him outside. Enjoy! Legacy Drag Strip by The Kup52, on FlickrLegacy Drag Strip by The Kup52, on FlickrLegacy Drag Strip by The Kup52, on FlickrLegacy Drag Strip by The Kup52, on FlickrLegacy Drag Strip by The Kup52, on Flickr
The Tyrrell P34 is a super iconic and recognizable design in the field of F1 racing. In the mid 70s the FIA stipulated that the front wing could only be 1.5 meters in total length. Given considerations that makers wanted to keep the width of the front wheels within the width of the wing for drag, and space for the drivers feet and all the mechanics for steering, the front wheels had to be small. Small wheels means less contact on the road. Less contact means less grip and traction. Devastating for cars as fast as F1. Tyrrell Racing's solution? Load the front of the car with 4 small wheels. Introduced in '75, it's first race was in the '76 season. After a very good showing in the '76 Spanish GP, the car would go on to win the '76 Swedish GP, putting the car and 6 wheels on the map. After this success other teams, including the legendary Ferrari Scuderia would experiment with 6 wheel cars. After a slight redesign and another successful year in '77, a redesign in '78 would render the car uncompetitive. Thus it was retired and new technologies and rules changes would make 6 wheels obsolete. The car is still a very recognizeable and popular car, and always draw crowds in legacy car races.
This should be the basis of Shattered Glass Drag Strip. Kinda like Mirage but based on a real color scheme for the Tyrell P34.
Very fun, very evil Draghausen. 2 of the 2 Legacy deluxes I've picked up are fantastic and Drag Strip is exactly why. Great in both modes, and a fun new transformation with original ideas. My least favorite Combiner Wars gestalt was Menasor, so if this is step one for us getting a new one, he's going to be bangin'.
I can't honestly say I like him more than the CW release (because of the color scheme) but for the people that thought he wasn't G1 enough I'm glad they're happy.
Loooooove this guy. Absolutely disgusted with the CW team for many reasons, so this feels like I'm finally getting real Stunticons. I'm actually not the biggest fan of F1 in particular but I can appreciate historic and iconic race cars! Also showing off the underside for all those interested.
I love this guy, but is anyone else having trouble with his spoilers? I can't get them to sit flush/flat with eachother in car mode. Do i need to shave the tab or something?
