Heh, No, the dragon kaiser wasn't from that person! This one has the sword, and although i thought the translation said slightly yellowed, it wasnt at all. It was cheaper than that persons too!

Japanese kit kats are great - why can we only get a couple of flavours here!?

    Japan's favorite tv anime

Slightly off-topic (while waiting for mark to showcase his latest haul) i found this article a while back. but somehow forgotten abt it.

For me i'm a TF fan 1st & Brave fan 2nd. anyway when i first saw it, i was both happy & disheartened at the same time. even tho the list is abit old but still...Brave is more popular than TF in japan!

    Gaogaigar is at no: 69

& the entire Brave saga is at no: 95

No sign of any TF series on dat list at all :( .
well maybe things might've changed abit b'coz da list was compiled almost 2 yrs ago.

here's the original link to that article:

Ok dun get me wrong roanstalker. i knew all along dat TF isn't popular over there.

But why Brave? what is it abt the Brave series dat is so compelling to the japanese audience? even some of the storylines of the Brave series is no less kiddyish than any of the TF series. is it abt the human & robot dynamics? boy-hero & his robot companions?

I knew some of the recurring formula in Brave has been around for quite sometime in japan. the so-called super robot genre. is it bcoz the japanese are so fond of it dat it resurfaces over time & again.

Oh no, no Brave hatred from me here :D . i'm just curious dat's all :) .

I don't know. Maybe because the Brave series has more in common with their Super Robot genre than Transformers (Monster of the week and flashy finishes). Also I guess the 'boy and robot' concept is another thing that makes Braves for the japanese (I know Transfrmers has that but I think its slightly different). Also combining robots that aren't just body and limbs coming to gether (Theres a few in brave but not much)

It's one of my Brave grails (along w/Great Goldran).

i think liqdeal did mention j-decker in his email. I think the shipment was due about the middle of this month... I'll try and mail later.

I know we've got a superb brave photo gallery but I couldn't resist a few quick snaps of my acquisitions!

    First up - Robot Mode:

Blocky, but that's the way I like it!

    Jet Mode,

Hmm, pretty hard to defend, I supppose the transformation is slightly more involved than Grandus!

    Combined Mode!

Absolutely brilliant! More than makes up for jet mode! Picture doesnt give a very good idea of scale. Ill take a piccy alongside brave max later.

Finally, after all the blocks, something a bit more posable!

Cool. I'll just use Masterpiece Great Exkaiser as my exkaiser though. The original doesn't sit well with me. I wouldn't mind getting STD Great Exkaiser though.

I wasn't that keen on the masterpiece brave, too fiddly and too many small parts, but thats a personal thing!

I'm not surprised Gaogaigar got on that list. It's the epitome of retro Super Robot fun. Over the top, hot blooded heroics on a grand scale that throws the serious storylines out the window in favour of something fun.
I heard that Gaogaigar in Japan didn't perform well with the target audience, but when it came out on DVD it became phenomenally popular with fans of the older anime shows. That's the main reason why the last episodes and especially Gaogaigar Final were more mature in tone - unlike the rest of the show, these were being made for the older audience.

The Brave series as a whole is a surprise though. I guess it's mainly down to the cool robots, imaginative attacks and some of the most awesome mecha battles ever animated. Bear in mind also in the 90's, Super Robot anime was a genre that was less popular, with more serious anime like Evangelion making up the mecha genre. Brave represented the escape from that (especially the dig at EVA in one GGG episode).

Also bear in mind in Japan the imported TF shows had a reputation for poor, inconsistent animation and bad dubbing (much like the reverse, actually), and the Japan original shows were aimed at a very young audience. So was Brave, but it was tailored to Japanese tastes even more than the Japanese made Transformers shows.

Hi all thanx for yr concern (i'm really touched) :D .

But really just like what jusoh mentioned i'm looking for the main mech in the Brave police series. until i get him first, then i will get the rest of the J-decker crew i.e Duke fire, Gunmax etc.

It would even be better if there's a giftset version available. (so i wouldn't have to buy em' one by one).

There is indeed! I got mine off Yahoo Japan a couple of years ago. I put a pen in the foreground for size reference; it's a monster.

Have you tried a site called Moanime? They seem to have a fair amount of Brave toys including a J-Decker.

I never heard of them before now, by chance found them via an anime search for Brave series Dagwon info.
