Yeah CliffJumper was not a shelf warmer for most people. Really nothing released in the pandemic era was a shelf warmer except some of the figures who got released twice like Arcee.

Again, current eBay prices literally have NOTHING to do with the availability of figures 2-3 years ago.

I don't think so. If it was that available, eBay prices for Cliffjumper wouldn't be what they are.

Yeah there are exceptions to everything but generally shelf warmers don’t get really expensive in just a couple years. I remember last year people were talking about what a shelf warmer twinferno was at the time, so I looked him up and sure enough, I was able to buy him for about $20 new.

You’re ignoring that as a line gets popular, folks who initially missed out go on eBay to catch up. Those people weren’t shopping for these figures when they were initially on the shelf.

WFC blew up with Siege, kept going with ER and blew up again with Kingdom. Folks are going back and filling in gaps they missed because they were ignoring the line or just weren’t as interested.

I completely skipped on G2 Siege Sideswipe cause I just didn’t care for it at the time. I think it wasn’t that hard to grab either on initial release. I am not bothering to check eBay on what it goes for now. Same with the Hot Shot repaint of Siege Hound.

Lots of folks regret skipping figures that were plentiful. It’s the lesson some collectors never seem to learn. When you get a lot of remorseful collectors scrambling to “catch up” on figures, you get price spikes on eBay.

People trashed ER Cliffy but might now be regretting skipping him because we got other figures that look good next to him (other revised Minibots).

I just have a different definition of shelf warmer.

I know this is off topic but I wanted to throw in my thoughts.

I tend to buy figures as soon as they come out because I know for a fact holding off may lead to the figure becoming a pain to get down the road. This is why I don't mind Hasbro/Takara doing repacks or redoing the figure with better paint because it makes the figure easier to get but also gives people (who don't care about better paint and just want the figure of the character) a chance to get the older version for a fair price on the aftermarket. In fact, buying and selling a figure knowing a new version I like more is coming has helped me grow my collection in the long run. I can sell an older figure now and re-buy it when the new version comes out and use the money to get a figure that may not get another run down the road.

    Ebay:
There's nothing wrong with taking an out of print figure like Cliffjumper, giving it a fresh paint job, and releasing it again 2 years later.

Kup on the other hand is a little sillier when so far every time I've seen the new version the original SS86 version is still hanging there on the peg right next to it.

finally found the new threesome at target today...

interesting that Cliffjumper has a Studio Series 86-13 designation...does that imply they will release a true Studio Series version in the future or will this one be all there is?

I like the gold tone on B127 a lot...Cliffjumper finally has an Autobot insignia on his chest, so that is good...Kup I'm sorta ambivalent about...either not different enough or too different...can't quite figure that out...

Not sure. The High Octane Bumblebee in the Buzzworthy 2-pack from last year still hasn’t been officially announced or rumored for Studio Series proper, so right now I’d say it’s anyone’s guess.

He is 86-13BB like all the other numbered Buzzworthys they throw that BB at the end to specify it's from that line. Regular Kup is 86-02, Buzzworthy Kup is 86-02BB

i figured Hi-Octane (#79) would be released in the Studio line eventually maybe in the wave after the batch hitting now (Brawn, Ratchet, Ironhide)...the numbering would be in the late 80s at that point...

Cliffjumper might be a ways off since they wouldn't want it to be on the shelf at the same time as buzzworthy...I wonder what the subline numbers would be like by the time he gets out...might be in the latter 20s...

I would think the numbering doesn't make a difference as far as slotting them into a production run, but I don't think we've seen lower numbered figures mixed into a bunch unless there was some sort of delay?

I gave up on hunting and just bought a Cliff off of ebay. Easy decision to make with gas prices these days.

I considered eBay too, and it's still a rip off. The thing is what? $22? And these guys want $35+$5-$10 shipping?

Nah. Not helping these dirt bags.

For those that have Cliffjumper, how's the paint? Any chipping on the windows?
