I'm not sure if it's just the lighting, but the shade of red used on Ironhide looks great. I know talking about how smaller the figures have become is basically beating a dead horse these days, but it's baffling at just how small SS Ironhide and Ratchet are in comparison to their ER counterparts, which came out barely two years ago. The recent price hike makes it even harder to justify buying these fantastic figures at full price.

when did Ironhide convert into a Fisher Price cozy coupe?

 

I'd love an autotrooper out of this mold, or any at all I guess lol.
That aside I'll be getting an Ironside and at least 1 ratchet.

Too bad we can\'t mash toys together into better hybrids: I\'d love it if Siege Ironhide and Ratchet had these Alt modes, but their siege robot mode aesthetics. Still look really cool. 

I also find it funny that -to me- the least appealing figure from the Bumblebee movie line is Bumblebee. 

 

He looks good overall, the red hips are obviously a bad choice. But it's definitely a plus to finally get an Ironhide in the movies.

 

The ER versions were never sold at Deluxe price -- they were both part of separate two-packs and sold as exclusives, so whether they actually could have sold at retail for $20 is unknown.

But more importantly, Bee Movie Ironhide and Ratchet are the size they need to be relative to other characters. They have a different relative scale to Bee Optimus and Bee Bumblebee that the toys try to accomplish, and so whether they're bigger or smaller than G1 Ironhide/Ratchet isn't an indicator of whether we're getting smaller toys now. SS86 Perceptor, who's in Ratchet's wave, is still a very large Deluxe, because that's the relative scale of his character. (aka roughly G1 Ironhide/Ratchet size.)

I am considering it to be fair, though it would be nice to just go to my local Walmart and see one on the shelf. During its initial release, our Walmarts werent even stocking SS voyagers.

 

I could see them maybe doing him through Buzzworthy or something but IDK if they will rerelease him (SS really should reissue more stuff). The best bet might be them releasing a ROTB version in SS. Since that design is BBM Prime with minor changes.

 

well I cant buy a SS 07 ironhide so this lad should fill that place.
