Woah bro, I don’t think the game’s amazing either but I wouldn’t go as far as to call it cancer like we’re in 2016. The game is actually pretty solid compared to most other modern shooters, and they actually manage to incorporate IPs into the game in a passionate way, like the Spider-Man swinging mechanics or Star Wars lightsaber combat. There’s a reason why it’s still profitable after nearly five years.

I don't care for Fornite either but it would help the brand amongst GA
It really would and would reach a larger audience (cause I don't know anyone that plays these games they collab with).
Somehow they got better swinging mechanic for Spider-Man than the Avengers game does.

Fortnite puts a surprising amount of effort into their tie-ins. If they did a Transformers event, I’d honestly be down to play it.

Fortnite fandom is the real cancer, the game not.

Have you played it? It's nothing more than soulless corporate advertising targeted towards the lowest common denominator.

Hmmm, maybe TFs would fit right in? :p  (but for real, though, Fortnite is just embarrassing)

    Depressingly true.

But no less of a criticism. At least some franchises try and put a little effort into their media so it's not just advertising. But that's all Fortnite is. It's just for-rent ad space not even pretending to be anything else. It literally only adds characters from other franchises just to promote their new media.

It's almost like an unabashed salesman or business executive who's totally detached from reality and sees these properties not for what they're actually popular for, but merely the fact that they are popular, and thinks cross-contaminating them is some genius move. "Let's put John Wick and Thanos in there! The millennials love those things! Put in Master Chief, make him do a silly dance, get the kids clapping!"

The worst part is that person would be entirely right. People eat that shit up like they don't even notice how transparent it is. It's like seeing names and characters in it is enough, not what makes those characters or names important.

Fortnite is ruined by the sweats who abuse the build systems. Before they came along, it was a great game. If there was a Transformers x Fortnite event, I'd probably play it. Some of the events they've done in the past have been brilliant. And if it means more people will go and see ROTB, then let it be.

Agreed, I feel if they put TF's into Fortnite it will help the brand grow amongst the general audience.

I would put the beast wars characters in fortnite just to market them before the movie.

If I were them and they were doing it to tie into ROTB I'd put Prime, Bumblebee, and either Primal or Scourge (or maybe Mirage since they seem to be pushing him as the new kid appeal character).

it's also a fun F2P cross platform game... i don't get all this vitriol towards the game itself i guess, considering it's probably the most accessible game of its design in history. i guess having keanu reeves and darth vader to advertise new movies can be annoying from a "silence, brand" standpoint but fortnite IS still a F2P game with constant updates so tie-ins as a little extra cash for the makers might be the least offensive way to advertise new movies ever. i mean geez, i paid $60+DLC at this point for a video game where the entire point is "every nintendo guy fights!!!" which is as corporate and marketable as it gets lol

Since y'all are talking about collabs, it would be cool if Transformers had a collab with Asphalt 9 and you could unlock like an exclusive Porsche in Mirage's colours.

I'm not really sure how that helps Hasbro's bottom line. I feel like people keep forgetting that at the end of the day, Transformers only even makes money if it sells toys. Advertising in Fortnite isn't going to move Transformers toys, it's going to just drive more e-store sales for Fortnite.

Is Transformers such a hollow concept these days that, as opposed to actually making the content good, the solution is to advertise the ever living daylights out of it through a medium which is the number one competitor to the toy industry which, again, is the main way Transformers actually makes money?

    The entire idea is self-defeating.

Or maybe Hasbro could actually give a shit about the property again and put competent people in charge of the TV show.

I just don't get why, suddenly, you are all convinced brand awareness is somehow the problem. Especially when the argument has been made about how great the movies were at doing this. You can't have the proverbial cake and eat it too by saying the movies were great because they were the single most effective way of raising brand awareness internationally...and then the moment Fortnite came up suddenly the brand is lacking in something it hasn't seen at this level since the 1980s?

The problem isn't brand awareness. The problem is that people are aware of the brand being pretty shit these days. And simply shoving characters into the closest thing real life has to the Oasis from Ready Player One isn't going to solve something wrong with the franchise itself.
