I guess we can conclude that we all want a good film. No matter how long we write our constructive criticisms, or no matter what universe (Bayverse, G1/BW etc) we're a fan of, we all have one thing in common:

We want Transformers: Rise of the Beasts to be a good film.

Virtually everything critics and hardcore fans despised about the first five Transformers films can be attributed to Michael Bay’s direction. The moment there was a film directed by someone else, there was a leap in quality. Paramount only facilitated Bay’s vision.

Not that that means ROTB will automatically be good, it’s just odd to highlight the studio and not the fact that all of those films were creatively lead by the same person.

Because it wasn't just the director change that influenced why Bumblebee turned out the way it did. TLK bombed so hard that almost every single possible thing they could have stripped out of Bumblebee to distance it from the bayverse was removed - including the original ending which we know from the pre-release screenings straight up had Megatron under Hoover Dam. There were still elements they couldn't remove like the existence of Sector 7 or the Camaro at the end since that's effectively what Bumblebee is seen as being by the target audience these days, but the movie we got is significantly different from what we would have gotten - IIRC the movie originally would have had Bumblebee in the middle of the Vietnam War as an opening for whatever reason.

Plus, Bumblebee's plot isn't copy-paste from the previous films in that there was no ancient artifact bullshit mysteriously linking Transformers to Earth. The only mcguffin was amusingly Bumblebee himself simply because he had orders from Prime to go to Earth that the bad guys wanted simply to confirm 'yeah, we should go here to kill Optimus Prime later'.

A new director can do a lot of good, but it won't completely save a film if there are fundamental problems with its foundation and support. And not meaning to sound like a broken record, but Lorenzo di Bonaventura is still the primary executive producer and the only reason I think Bumblebee ended up being good is because he was forced to not interfere with the reshoots following TLK. He's not being held back for ROTB and given we already know more dumbass ancient human civilization ruins are the backdrop for a final battle? It's strongly looking like he was always the real problem and not Bay.

Wheeljack MIGHT transform something like this (I'm only speculating):
The van lower front forms the feet while the van's upper front forms the chest. The upper sides of the van form the arms and the back kibble becomes his "wings".

I find it hard to believe they will release the toys over a year before the film releases. it simply WILL NOT happen.

Could be-that would be a roundabout reference to his old-school transformation. We shall see. . . I think however he transforms, parts of the van may have to compress and fold a few times-especially, if they are still going with the concept of him being relatively somewhat smaller than OP in height.

I also recall a similar Van model being used in one of the bayverse films: a rusty old VW van that was similar to the dreadbots. . .

Hasbro doesn't have a choice, they have to release the figures because the movie was originally planned for this year and Paramount pulled the rug out from under Hasbro with the delay. Now Hasbro is sitting on top of millions of toys (because the way logistics works is these figures are in production a year before they are sold at retail) meant to be released and the main product driving support media - the movie - isn't ready. Hasbro doesn't have a fallback plan to fill shelves at stores in place of the ROTB figures, they didn't have enough time to prepare unlike back in 2006 where the line we know as Classics 1.0 was already in production and simply had the release moved up to cover for the first live action movie's delay.

As a result, Hasbro loses money sitting on unsold product not making a return on the capital investments made to produce them, as well as the cost of having to store these figures for up to a FULL YEAR in the middle of a pandemic and historic struggles within the global shipping and logistics network. Pushing the toys to release this year may not make as much money but it will make money anyway and furthermore it moves the product onto the retailers and thus the storage problem becomes their problem and not Hasbro's. Really, it's a question of "lose lots of money by not selling stuff" or "lose LESS money by selling stuff even if the corresponding media isn't out."

The figures are certainly designed at least a year in advance, actual production will be later though. I know we're still seeing listings with an April date, but they may choose to do what they did with the Bumblebee line (and the Bumblebee Studio Series figures) by delying them by a few months. Granted, that delay wasn't sprung on them quite so suddenly, but I think it's still possible. There's still Cyberverse product being released, and they have both Legacy and Studio Series (with the 86 subline continuing) so it's not like they have little TF product for the next coming year.

However, if they toys had indeed started to go into production before the movie's delay was announced (though it would onyl be the initial wave), then I agree, they may well choose to release them according to the original schedule. Like I've siad before, it's whether they judge releasing the figures a full year before the supporting media less of a finacial risk than delaying for several months; if it were a collector line I don't think there'd be any doubt that the line would sell regardless of contempraneous media, but as a kids' gimmick line, I'm not sure they'll take the risk of it bombing. We'll soon know, I guess, when leaked copies start surfacing on YouTube.

So he is working on it? Thought he officially denied it a year ago or so.
