No it didn't? Perhaps there was a handful of "bad" episodes within those seasons, as the writers took some time to get up to pace again, but I really feel they managed to get up to snuff in the last couple of seasons. They certainly ended on a high note. I certainly hope they don't revert to "status quo" with this second renewal, and renege on Zoidberg's little slice of happiness, though. Although I do wonder about that a bit, with the celebrity casting and all. Not that they couldn't just re-cast the role, mind.
But why? First off, the series had a send-off already. Secondly, we don't need this to become The Simpsons 2.0.
My reaction to this news in memes: New Futurama!? No John DiMaggio? No Bender, = No Sale. John DiMaggio is an intergalactic treasure of the highest degree.
Whether John comes back or not I'm not really that excited about this. It had the perfect ending, I'd rather it stayed like that.
They’ve been trying. All the Bundy actors are keen on it, just one of the creators refuses to sign off on it
No DiMaggio and made by Disney? they can get fucked. Jurassic Bark aside, the first four seasons are probably one of the most perfect comedy shows there is. Those seasons are still one of my go-to background noise shows that always makes me laugh. The revival was hit or miss, but mostly miss. With Disney involved, there is zero chance of a quality product.
there's no reason to think them announcing this without locking this down isn't a PR stunt to generate more buzz for this. they'd either know they can get him or they wouldn't have put all their chips down on what's otherwise going to go down as another wikipedia footnote in the revival section.
The scenario just reminds me of all the times similar "threats" have been made with The Simpsons actors, but that all blows over in the end, as well.
Honestly, no one asked for a revival. The show got its revival already, and even got a good send off...which a number of other shows can't say the same of. To bring it back again, would just be pointless I feel. Much like the attempts to bring back Beavis and Butt-head or Animaniacs. It sounds exciting at first to see these fan favorite characters return, and with the same voice actors, writers, etc... The thing is...time changes things. It changes people, changes how things are done. What was fine in the original show 20 years ago, is no longer fine in the modern day. It's not the same show you remember watching anymore. And already if one of the original VAs isn't returning, that's a big red flag for this new Futurama I think.
This is incorrect. It is more like lemonade without the lemonade, and only the sweetener. Without DiMaggio it's just a bunch of sugar poured into water, and it's not even cold water, it's not hot water, it's just random middle temperature tap water. John DiMaggio is the lemonade, the rest of the cast is the sweetener.
