Look at a couple of posts above yours. There were a couple of people looking for a Vortex. There might be people looking to get all 4 at the same time, but you might have to move your copies piecemeal ;)

I like this set (I have 3 of the 5) but in my opinion they lean more to a cartoon design style. Swindle in particular looks nothing like the toy version, with the fake grille crotch and the windscreen chest. Obviously you do what you want to do, but if I were going to collect a toy-homage set, I'd go with Zeta's. Those look more like the original G1 toy designs.

EDIT: Of note, the set shown below is the "metallic" version. I couldn't find a good image of the original set, which gives Blast Off more purple, Vortex a purple chest and teal head, Brawl a greener shade, and Onslaught a different hue of blue. Apparently Zeta made the original toy-themed set, then a toon-colored set, then this metallic deco.

there is just way to much wrong with these to be "toy deco MP". first is the alt mode going with a classics look instead of MP. Swindle isn't a hummer. he's a very specific jeep. Blast off doesn't have a big ass spine like a dinosaur behind his head. They're just lazy designs all around. The combined mode of UT might not be g1 toy accurate, but the bot modes are great for it with reprolabels. for me it's way easier to overlook the UT design flaws than the Zeta.

Hey, I don’t entirely disagree with you. No company makes MP-style Combaticons that are true to the original toys. However, I don’t think stickers alone can give the UT set a “toy deco”— particularly in the case of Swindle. And no, Swindle isn’t a Hummer, but he’s not a Jeep, either. I think his alt mode was an interpretation of a military combat vehicle made by FMC (I don’t recall the model). It’s neither a Jeep nor a Humvee, but much closer to the latter.

Regardless, I wasn’t trying to steer you one way or another. I just recall that of all 3P Combaticons out there, Zeta’s V1 set reminded me the most of the original toys. You do what you want to do. I think my team is going to end up being a mix of UT (ground vehicles) and MMC (fliers). I care nothing about combined mode.

like you say. you do you. whatever swindle is, we disagree on what he looks more like. I'm looking at the set as a whole though and all the little details as well. I can't take the huge clumps of kibble.

So is anybody selling these or do I gotta go ebaying?

I think the MMC set is the most toyetic of the three. It's hard to do toy accurate combiner limbs because the toy versions are little peices of shit. Even by the standards of the time they are JUNK!

Personally I rather like the UT individual bots. They are a lot of fun to mess around with. I only recently remerged them into Bruticus, and yeah It's still a rickety poorly balanced Abomination...

Looks fine though(imo), but it's definitely not a fun toy.

If you end up going to ebay, don't pay a lot for this set. I say that as someone who's owned it for quite awhile, transformed combined ect.. each figure many times. I bought my set 2nd hand for 200-250(somewhere in there), its worth about that(imo).

Oh, I think from the perspective of individual robots, MMC is extremely toon-accurate. To a fault, in fact.

You're calling the G1 brick toys as junk lol?
I had fun playing with the original ones wayback in '86.

Not all of them, just the combiner limbs. Yeah, I had fun with them too and I'm a huge fan of a more toy accurate look. Just saying when it comes to combiners the Toy source material isn't much to work with lol.

Agreed, I feel the the combined mode evokes the toy even more with the upgrade set. If it wasn't so expensive I'd get it, but I can't justify so hefty a price when I've already got a serviceable version. I've been close though, a few times...

I rather like my UT Bruticus. I do have a spare 2nd hand Vortex. Got him from ebay. He is missing the Bruticus main gun and the air intake thingies? A little scratched up in the face too. Then I got lucky and got notified one from TF source. Might be willing to sell him off at some point.

Hate to resurrect a zombie threat but does anyone have a picture of both Ragnaros and XTB Monolith together? I’ve bought UT not Onslaught and want to see them together before i start dropping bills on the rest.

    Ebay:
Ragnaros is MUCH smaller as it's scaled more to CW Devastator height.

I can verify he is about 17 and half inches tall. From top of the antennae to toe.

Not the BEST pic, as Monolith is in FRONT of Raggy (making him look even bigger) and it's from a short video... but there is most definitely a size discrepancy.
For a long time it never bothered me (as I think he looks incredible... AND matches well with Hasbo's Devy & OS Feral Rex), however,
now I'm considering getting Zeta's for Bruticus (as I really do like the bigger bots... BIGGER), and keeping the UT as individual Combaticons (as I think
they are STILL the best looking Combaticons on the market!).
