Parts forming and extra bits aside, the finished robot still looks good. I'm keeping my preorder and hoping I can copy the elbow pieces for the other combiners.

THe funny thing is, I'm so getting both of these, but I'm probably ever only going to use the BWII Seacons one, which I keep in combiner mode. I keep the G1 Seacons in their alt modes. I think they look better that way.

 

These pics have more paint on the torso than previous ones. Did they update it? We're the previous package shots just a test run? I hope so because the additional painted detail looks much better!

 

That added gold is making me wanna take the bite! I enjoy the idea that GOD Neptune is bigger than his moldmate..... Only time will tell....

Based on my experience with the Abominus set I'd say the main things I'm going to have an issue with here are the shoulder sockets not having a cover on top so the pegs keep popping out and the stupid overly elaborate feet falling apart all of the time. Additionally, I really wish they'd given us new hands as those new combiner hands that Takara came up with aren't as great as they seem to think they are.

This is definitely one of the better TDW upgrade sets IMO. Doesn't quite fix the problems with the looseness in the legs, but the new thigh armor helps brace his legs against other parts of his body. Seawing HAS TO be swung back on the arm connector as his wings bump into the claws on the chest shield.

EDIT: New elbows do allow him to hold his Targetmaster without support.  

 

ok I need a set of these elbow parts for every CW team now, why did it take so long for someone to do this.

 

The seacons are stupid. i love them.

 

Ugh, still waiting for BBTS to get both colors in-stock. They are way late this time.

 

For a savings of $20 per set, I'll skip TCP and wait for BBTS.

 

There was a attempt for a 3rd party version and that kinda fell flat, I have seen stuff like clips to help hold the feet together on deadend's mold you can sometimes spot things on shapeways that help thou more gap filler than anything.

 

This isn't simply has filling but completely replacing the weakest link in the design of the Hasbro combiners of relying on a deluxe's leg ball joints for the elbows which can't support their own weight. I would 100% buy multiple copies of these elbows even if they weren't color matched to each team

 

I know i know they did leave out the part to swap seawing's connector for someone else, not a big deal for me seawing was going to be a arm anyways, but it was deigned with that in mind too.

 

If i was at Hasbro i would tackle the MP combiners and i got a odd one that might get some hate but not about the end results.
