Honestly I'm not sure and I'm not going to try it cuz I don't want to scratch up the paint on mine. I'd say it's pretty likely but I wouldn't want to bet on it and then find out I was wrong. That's why I painted him first.

Based on my experience it should be pretty easy. I think the only risk of breakage would be in how you separate some of the ball joints and what pressure you exert on some of the thinner/smaller plastic pieces.

This kit doesn't require glue and my kit fit together really snuggly with just the existing tabs and holes so you should be fine.

awesome, thanks for replying. I'm still in the middle of moving to another house, so my hobby gear (including airbrush etc) are still somewhere in boxes . But I really want to put this guy together when I've got some spare minutes, when I'm not working and building fences and dog kennels in the back yard ;)

Finally got to finish this little kit, enjoyed it. I like this figure, but there are some minor issues. I'll mention them later today. Here's a quick snap.

I bought one two - the hips are a bit weird and sometimes the legs fall off due to the design, he feels a bit lightweight - but that is only as RED figures weight a lot I guess.

He didn't need much paint - the Matrix is unpainted and some might like to paint that - and Painted his eyes light blue and coloured the inset parts on his shoulders red so they didn't show grey in on the upper arms. I also painted his running light orange too. The only other minor thing was one arm didn't want to stay together so I secured it with some nail polish & a peg until it dries (as it won't leave any visible mark unlike glue) Other than that I like him - he was easy enough to make.

Maybe some might like to paint the toes before assembly but the grey doesn't bother me especially.

Just one small warning be very careful when unframing him there are a couple of pieces you could easily accidentally chop off that can be mistake for part of the runner - so be aware and look carefully before you clip.

I think he'd be easy as pie to paint up in another colour if you wanted one with silver parts instead of white. if he was a hair cheaper I might even do that. I wouldn't do it for Nemesis Prime though due to the wrong coloured windows.
But overall all you need is a couple of hours the proper tools and an Autobot sticker - mostly straight forward. - just take care not to trim something you shouldn't.

Ok, you've just mentioned my issues :D
Left hip joint is a bit strange/weak, I popped of the leg once while posing him. The forearms separate a little bit out of the box, so they need some attention like @Max Tower mentioned.
His right elbow is a bit loose, so I need to fix that.
Right now he's completely standard, as I just wanted to enjoy something Transformers related while getting the house and backyard ready after moving (all of my legends figures are still in moving boxes :( )
I really like the articulation and it's blocky appearance, looking forward to Starscream!

I wouldn't mind if they made a reissue Optimus with a metallic shiny finish to the parts that might be nice to have as an alternative option.
I guess the best way to describe how he 'feels' is "he's a lot like RED Optimus only a little smaller and a lot lighter in weight"

He's not entirely unlike the Jinbao (Transforming) Optimus either in how he looks.
Like Huub says I too like him enough to be considering buy the Starscream too - he was kinda fun but easy to make like making an old Star Wars snap kit or a simple Zoid.

The left hip connection is a real let down on my figure, it constantly pops out when articulating the left leg. Anyone got any tips on how to fix it?

In my experience with the kit, it has to do with how they designed the hips.

    20211110_075932.jpg

Depending on which orientation you put these pieces in it dictates how much the hips can bend. Because those two jointed pieces don't sit perfectly in line with each other, one hip will sit a couple millimeters further back than the other. It doesn't sound like much but when you're rotating the hips, pieces will bump and push the hips off their joint.

I had the same problem and I added a few coats of floor polish on those hip joints and it helped a bit.

One quick update on my Prime.

I didn't like the yellow arrows on the forearms as they aren't cartoon accurate so I mixed up some red paint.

    20211221_080116.jpg

I'm happy with the results. This is my definitive G1 Prime in my collection. Now I just need PPL to release a Megatron and I'm set.

Just finished up painting and assembling the upper body. Have to wait on some blue paint to show up before finishing him up but I love where it’s at so far.

That looks really good! What paints are you using? I was disappointed with my results but I have a second kit if I ever want to take another crack at it.

Thanks! I’ve been looking at yours a lot on this thread. I know how it feels when customs don’t go as planed but I think it turned out great.

My go to paints are tamiyas TS series paint. The red is TS-8 Italian red. Pretty great non metallic red.

Thanks! I've been meaning to pick up some Tamiya colors but I haven't found any stores around here that have it and I prefer buying paints in person because you get a better idea of the actual color than looking at a computer monitor.

Tamiya can be tricky. Even seeing in person. The base coat can dramatically alter the hue of the paint. But I love it because it lays down super flat and drys even faster. Maybe not the strongest paint in the world though. Great for models but not too great for actual transforming figures.

Getting close. Have to wait for a little bit nicer weather to finish the yellow bits on his hips silver on his head crest.
