I have been looking. Outside of Vallejo acrylics, I cannot think of a paint brand with a comparable color. I keep looking. I just got some new Mr Color paints to check against the figures. Havent had a chance to check them yet. A lot of the light grey colors I wanted were out of stock at the normal online store I use. I try to avoid others becausr of high shipping costs.

I will be sure to let you guys know how things go.

Ok, I am pulling the trigger to get TC and SW. Which is the better store to get them from - ShowZ or Bombusbee?

 

ShowZ is sending wing filler kits with TC and SW. Got both of mine their. Too bad SS is sold out now.

 

I have a bit of purple in both Tamiya and generic Michael's brand acrylics. I feel like with purple, it'd probably involve mixing in a bit of another color to get it close to the shade that Skywarp is. I will see if the stuff I have comes close, too.

Just got the Thundercracker this morning, I hope it at least shows up in the US before CNY

 

Ok. So I checked a few paints. Mr Color Sky Blue is waaaay too saturated to match TC. Putting SS up against TC showed me it is the same plastic blue that is TC's unpainted body and SS's forearms, hands, shin vents and feet. TC's plastic is painted a near match. SS isnt.

I did find two that look to be matches for part of TC but I cannot promise you they are exact matches for factory DS paint without shooting it through an airbrush. Both are for Thundercracker.

Feet: Mr. Color #137 "Tire Black"
Hands, forearm, chest intake & shin vents: Mr Color #602 "IJN Hull Color"

I will keep hunting for a blue color for TC & purple for SW.

An hour after owning MP-52, I knew I didn't want any more of the mold. I cancelled my Thundercracker pre-order.
Not long after the DS mold was shown. It would be very difficult for me to be any happier that they came along.

I also can't see Takara-Tomy or Hasbro ever making a Masterpiece ("G1") figure I'm interested in.

Save your effort and time. I've yet to have interaction with or observe an Official-Only that will admit any faults of any T-T or Hasbro figure.

Thundercraker was the one with a pet.

 

got my Thundercracker and Skywarp yesterday. Perfect figures. I don't know if any company can make the Seekers better than DS right now. They fit perfectly with the modern FTs, XTB and MMC figures.

So now I'm starting to sell my entire Takara Tomy Seeker Collection.  

 

When I need a close match I typically mix my paints.

I used it to paint TC'S helmet. Then when my SW came in, I discovered it was a dead on match for his black. I plan to use it to paint his jet bits.

I'd wait longer than two days. To fully cure all the chemicals and accelerants have to evaporate. I'd wait at least a week. I waited two weeks on all mine.

 

Yeah I know, I didn't have a tiny dog so I used SW

 

The figure or the kit? I noticed the kit says second batch now and I still haven't received a ship notice so I guess they over sold against their initial numbers. They still have over 300 figures so if they plan to offer the kits with Starscream then they have a decent amount to order.
