Strangely, I received 2 clear and 1 opaque hands with my copy.

I think that was standard in the early orders.

    Yep!! Still my favorite Shockwave!!

    20210318_184120_HDR~2.jpg

But after seeing what NewAge and MagicSquare have been able to accomplish at the 4-inch level, I'd love to see a Quakewave 2.0!!

Even then, I don't think I could part with Quakeblast! He's the perfect upgrade to the G1 figure!

And he's the perfect Marvel Shockwave, taking Megatron to the scrapyard!

    Capture+_2021-03-29-23-39-52~2.png

Mine came with this pointless accessory though...

    20200511_194146_HDR~2.jpg

That last bit was a joke of course. That is the arm of WeiJiang's Ultima Guard!

But Quakeblast? He certainly ain't no joke... Five years later, and this guy is still looking as imposing as ever!

So until the NewAge or MagicSquare versions are upscaled to masterpiece size, or until I see a Quakewave 2.0 that aligns with RP Acoustic Wave... until any of these things happen...

    Make Mine Quakeblast!!

    Thats exactly how I feel.
Solid hand/nozzle would be nice though, as I wasn't lucky enough to get a first run version.

I understand it's a nice nod to the G1 toy, and that's great. But me being a Marvel Comics-inspired collector (still looking for a good 1:30 black Spidey, or a spare MP Ratchet head to try my painting skills on), the translucent just sticks out to me.

Every once and a while I try to talk @Snaku into making an appropriately scaled Spider-Man! After seeing his Charlene, he's definitely got the chops for it!

It would also be a dream come true if FT's Gears (FT Invigilator or Invariator or something like that) came with an articulate Arachnid-mensch that scaled with the MP line!

Until then... I use my Lego Spider-Man.

    1550939918651.png

Unfortunately, I can't find my pre-rendered photos of BC Grump and Spidey, the comic-bookified version is all I could find!

I've seen a couple people on TFW2005 that have made Marvel versions of Ratchet, Bumblebee, Ironhide, Soundwave, and Megatron!!

I'm always blown away by the level of risky talent some people on these forums have!!

It's crossed my mind from time to time but I'd have to finish a lot of projects before I ever got around to doing a Spider-Man. I have a super-durable resin on the way, though, and I'm going to do a test print of my Charlene with it and see how it holds up. The resin comes in black as well, so it'd be perfect for Spinne-Mann.

I'm still after the clear QB, but I have been looking at the black version to see if it sways me at all, and have to say it still doesn't. I just wonder why C9 didn't do grey as AstroMagnum/Galactic Man were established variants in the same color. I think I'd grab that one after clear if produced.

I know, right? I DID utilize the grey translucent pieces from the black version on my custom though.

I have no skills. My YouTube station would probably do better if I switched to goth/punk/nerd/geek/lifestyle discussions and reviews, rather than the cut-&-paste electronic music that I make.

But alas, you wanted some links...

    Snaku's Charlene Figure
Heavy/Scratch: - Masterpiece Charlene (for Skids)

Couldn't find a link to Snaku's Custom Optimus Prime G1-Toy Head for MP-44 though..

But if you need a 48inch Devastator.. there's an app for that!!

    Heavy/Scratch: - 48" Devastator ("Bruderstator") 1:16th scale

Til next time... and probably in another thread!

QuakeBlast was my 1st 3P purchase... didn't really even know #P existed back then.
He is STILL one of the most imposing bots on my shelf, and STILL one my favorites
    of my entire collection.

I pulled MP-29 down to dust him off (again) and it reminded me how much I hate it. One of the most disappointing figures I've ever bought.
Speaking of disappointment, I'm still disappointed that I didn't buy Quakeblast when he was cheap. I just assumed I had plenty of time, and then... suddenly all the stock was just gone one day. Now people want stupid-high prices for it.

I'd love to see a new Shockwave that isn't poorly designed like the Takara one, but I don't know if there's much demand. It's a shame. Quakewave and Quakeblast seem a bit aged now, though they still look good, and then there are all the people who just want a super-cartoony Shockwave, which I don't personally care about. I just want a Shockwave that looks good, is good, and isn't short. Bonus points if he doesn't have floppy legs and tiny feet...

One thing that always bugged me with both Quakewave and Quakeblast was the small eye. Takara got that right... and then decided not to paint it (until they did MP-29+ and charged way too much for it).
Regardless, it's a shame we likely won't ever see another Quakeblast reissue, and because he exists, I don't feel like I'd be happy if I were to buy a Quakewave (assuming that ever gets another reissue).
Getting a second-hand Quakeblast is a bit of a game that I don't feel like playing either, especially in regards to what hands you may or may not get in the box.

@TCJJ I'm going to have to call your statement bud ;)
What do you mean by "isn't short"....
aside from that our "looks good" is entirely subjective :D
Such is the world of 3p...when they make a fig b4 the OFFICIAL MPX release they are good...then after, they are silent as to not incur the wrath(s)...unless they are BMB :D

I mean isn't a manlet like MP Shockwave. Sure, "looks good" is subjective (not that I was saying any of them look bad, mind you, but just that I don't want to pay a pretty penny for a dud), but Masterpiece Shockwave was not exactly cheap.
He barely has any paint on him, has bloody light-piping for his eye (I don't know about you but I tend not to display my expensive toys in direct sunlight because I prefer them not getting damaged), and has plenty of other shortcomings.
Weird feet, loose hips with no lateral ratchets (the ratchets which are there don't help much anyway since there's so much give between each step), and diecast on his backpack (which is probably necessary for structural integrity, but still adds to the weight) make him hard to stand up. Mine kept doing the splits last night when he was on my desk without me barely even breathing on him.
The hose is a painted spring because I guess someone at TakaraTomy is a real galaxy brain, so mine started flaking off without me touching it.
The trigger is hard to pull in gun mode because there's almost no room for your finger, and that's when it's not retracting back into his abdomen.
And speaking of the abdomen, the trigger cover retracts every time you move Shockwave's waist. Don't even get me started on the abysmally useless ab crunch he's got. It doesn't even hold in place...

I know Quakewave and Quakeblast have their problems but AT LEAST THEY CAN STAND UP.

I remember when I got Masterpiece Shockwave. I was so excited, so happy to finally have it, after passing on those "other" Shockwaves. I didn't have time to open it all week because I was really busy on a film shoot. Once I finally got around to opening it after work was done... I was utterly disappointed. Even Masterpiece Tracks and Sunstreaker, both of which I hate (for different reasons, mind you), didn't disappoint me in the same way as Shockwave. He just feels... cheap. I don't need paint slathered everywhere nor have I ever, but Shockwave feels like he belongs in the mainline Leader class from yesteryear.

I tried to avoid posting a rebuttal... but here I am anyweigh.

It's funny, I was just eyeing up some KO-MP-29s on eBay, but didn't know any of the sellers... and I'm still waiting on a DS001 Skywarp from Show.Z as well as a KO-MP-47 from Mr.Brian2009.

And after seeing @Alph 's post today on the 3P page, I think I'm holding off with respect to ever owning any version of MP Destron Lazerwave.

But, after acquiring RobotParadise's Acoustic Wave, and DS001's Starscream and Thundercracker, I think we are in need of an updated Shockwave for the masterpiece collector in 2022.

    20220217_174502_HDR~2.jpg
    20220217_175023_HDR~2.jpg

I would love to see what DeformationSpace would do with a Shockwave attempt! First and foremost, I think a DS Shockwave would at least be taller... so he wouldn't have to look up to Starscream.

    20220216_132011_HDR~2.jpg

Second, I think the Quakeblast ab-shrink should be carried over to any new Shockwave mold.

So Shockwave can be shorter and more subservient in appearance...

    20220216_152101_HDR~2.jpg

    ...or larger and more imposing!

    20220216_151932_HDR~2.jpg

Doing so allows collectors to have the best of both worlds...

    ...loyal Shockwave

    20220216_132331_HDR~2.jpg

    Or... BADASS SHOCKWAVE!!!

    20220216_132944_HDR~2.jpg

Don't get it twisted though... as much as I'd love to see DS make a toon-centric Shockwave, I don't think I'd ever part with Cloud9's Quakeblast. The paint, the aesthetical style, the height options, the poseability... it doesn't get any better than Cloud9 Quakeblast in my humble opinion!!

    20220216_131605_HDR~2.jpg

But... it could get more toon-accurate.

A little less greeble, a bigger optical sensor, somewhat less bulky arms and legs... these changes would go the distance for an upgrade to Quakeblast!

Another idea would be for some KO company to upscale NewAge's Cyclops!

    reduced-image_18193_3_1618857082__81176.1632008061.jpg

NewAge has been knocking it outta the park with their legends-scale masterpieces!! I just wish they also made masterpiece scaled figures!

If they made a nine inch Shockwave, I would click that "Preorder" button so FAST, my index finger would momentarily go through my phone as if it were a hologram!

I would also support the idea for FansToys to create a Quakewave 2.0. Given how much even FansToys has advanced since 2014 and 2015, I could imagine a Quakewave 2.0 would be on par with their Acoustic Wave, Thomas, Hunk, Rig, etc... all very toon-accurate!!

    I wasn't always a toon-accurate collector... partly because toon-accurate didn't consistently exist for the first 16 or 17 years of masterpiece-scale collecting!

    20220125_132204_HDR~2.jpg

Back then there was iGear, DX9, DacaToys, X-Transbots, and manufacturers like Mastermind Creations and FansToys... but none of them were consistently as toon-accurate as the figures being cranked out today!

    20220125_152436_HDR~2.jpg

And while I do sometimes purchase a figure just because I like the design, now that I've started down the "toon-centric" rabbit hole, I can't bring myself to stop until I can create the ultimate series of Transformers descending scale photography... every G1 figure from the three seasons of TF that we got in the States...

    IMG_20180630_133509~2.jpg

Its good to have goals... or so they say. I guess logic would dictate that the goals should at least be reasonable.

    Speaking of logic...
