What origins do you prefer for Tarantulas and the Tripredacus Council? Unicron spawn or descendants of the Cybertronian Empire?

 

Definitely Cybertronian Empire for me. I wrote a 4-page story to tell it.

 

Why not both? Could have their origins with the Cybertronian Empire and during travels in space came into the service of Unicron, being empowered as his "spawn" in a similar manner to Galvatron being a "spawn" of Unicron.

 

I concur, and the Gathering Darkness story linked above follows such an idea.

 

Since Tarantulas was made from a Junkion mold by the TFCC, I always had the idea that he was a Junkion. When Unicron’s floating head crashed down on the planet Junk in the Marvel UK comics, it took control of the entire population and tried to make them build a new body. This failed, but I always imagined that Tarantulas choose to continue serving the dark lord.

I love the idea because not only does it explain his Junkion body and his ties to Unicron, but since the Junkions essentially graft junk to their bodies, it’s hard not to imagine Tarantulas took this to an extreme, and thats were his love for dark science was born.


As for the Predacus Council, I have always been under the impression that after the end of the Great War, many splinter factions arose and kept fighting. One such faction was lead by Predaking, and was naturally called the Predacons. This was the cell that would go on to absorb all the others, and even if Predaking and the other original Predacons perished(perhaps at the end of the supposed Maxmial/Predacon war), they still retained the name.


EDIT: The Botcon 2009 fiction actually supports this idea, as the Predacus Council tried to assasinate Razorclaw, who was indeed their leader.

Brilliantly done. That composition is similar to how I like to display my MPs. Let’s keep praying that someday this scene can be recreated in MP form.

I want a "Voyager Class Lio Convoy" (Leo Prime, Lio Prime, Leo Primal, Optimus Pride... whatever you wanna call him) SO bad. I have the original "Ultra class" from way back in the day and he goes awesome with the original bawsmunki. If needed as a selling point, there are plenty of Redecoes possible:
1. (Magnaboss) Prowl/ Lio Jr. (direct redeco) to go with B.A.T. Skywarp,
2. Cybertron Leobreaker/Nemesis Breaker/Leo Prime - if Legacy can G1-ify TFP Arcee and Bulkhead, then the whole chest vs. shoulder issue could be hand-waived as "B1-ify-ing"
3. Alpha Trion (been several lions of him)
4. Razorclaw homage (would hurt missing the combination though)
5. BM Snarl
6. TFP Thundertron

Thats PLENTY of options spanning the decades.

 

Funny you mention Alpha Trion as the original concept for him being a lion was going to a a Lioconvoy redeco before 3h settled on a BM Snarl repaint for their faux Wreckers catalog, though oddly the artwork from the comic looks like a mix of Lioconvoy and BM Snarl
