I agree with you, however there are those that will argue that there's some kind of legal gray area because they are considered "unused" designs and somehow the artist rightfully owns them. I can't imagine Mattel, even in the 1980's, wouldn't put it in the contracts of their artists that they own all works they created during their run, regardless whether they were used or not.
Exactly this. Law isn’t about who is right, it’s about who has deeper pockets to pay for endless litigation.
Well this sucks. Probably could have gotten away with it if they hadn't announced it as a crowd fund.
Link to a Facebook video https://fb.watch/bQvrmAQ1iH/ Looks like it's"Legends of Dragonore" now and the LoP concept design characters have more visual differences now.
... Then you just outsource to a Chinese shell organization, lose a little of the profits in the effort and go on as you do. Ah well, while they are at it, they may as well update the articulation to match the Origins figures. And shouldn't an anthropomorphic female cat have eight boobs?
Total Recall had the more famous one, but Trek had the one that was also a cat. (Table dancer in the Nimbus III bar in the beginning of the film, later jumped on Kirk, who threw her into a pool. It's harder to tell in the latter since that scene was so dark). They never established if she was the same species as the cat crew-woman from the Animated series or the doctor from Lower Decks, but in my head-canon, I like to think so. Fun Fact: Deanna Troi from TNG and Betazoids in general were originally intended by Gene Roddenberry to have 3 or 4 breasts, but the writers, D.C. Fontana chief among them, quickly talked him out of it.
It's now Legends of Dragonore. The designs have been changed as well. https://www.formotoys.com/legendsofdragonore
It's too bad they had to change the barbarian chick. She was a pretty generic barbarian chick, which I liked.
From the Formo Facebook page: ''Hi everybody! We are finally able to show you how the brand new "Wave 1" LOD toys look like! After long weeks of hard work, we can say we are absolutely proud of how the characters turned out. That's the first official reveal of the series, we hope you will like them as much as we do! The quest for the Divine Armor of Power is almost ready to begin: which side will you choose? Will you stand with the good heroes or join the bad guys? Let us know in the comments!''
Trademarks are broken into categories, so there can be two separate trademarks for the same name if they're in unrelated categories and won't create brand confusion…based on what I remember on the subject. But you can also use the "TM" without it being registered, but you can't use the "®" mark without it being registered and approved, so there's that.
It's like the singer named Sting and the professional Wrestler named Sting, no one is going to a pro-wrestling event hoping to hear "Watching you" and no one is going to a concert in anticipation of someone getting put in the Scorpion Death Lock. I doubt anyone will be disappointed that this figure doesn't sing "Walk" or "Mouth For War".
Tbh the figures really do look nice but I’m past this type of aesthetics and the only reason why I’m collecting MOTU Origins is because of nostalgia. If these were like in er, realistic aesthetics like mythic legions…I’m get them. Not all but I’ll cherry pick the line.
