    Monday.

Paid a $1.00 deposit to secure a TransArt Rattrap with Show Z Store.

My orders of Newage Beachcomber and toy Mirage have now left China and Newage have also posted an image of a case of toy Primes on their Facebook page so stock is on the way to retailers.

After seeing that Newage have broken out the shiny metallic purple for Cyclonus I'm now itching for them to make Scourge as well as the only current ones are DX9's which isn't aging well and Iron Factory's which is decent but wouldn't go with Newage Galvatron and Cyclonus due to the differing aesthetic.

    EDIT,
Can't remember if I already did this but in case I didn't,

    @Brooticus,
    :bday

Hope it was a good one!

I know, right? I'm amazed by how much I've enjoyed him.

I did really enjoy that, but man...I bristled at the nonsense about either being a 2000ad or TF:UK fan. Everyone I knew who was reading one of those, back in the 80's, was reading the other. Pure Poppycock.

    Happy Belated @Brooticus

Pretty much. Items have to have been on sale at rhe indicated higher price at x stores for y days before they can be advertised as reduced (see: TF Classics Mini-con 10 pack at £40 in tescos before dropping to £20).

I always assumed the Smyths prices were in case of stray leftover toys not accounted for by the stock tracking online. "We found this otherwise sold out older toy? Yeah, here's its clearance price".

As one of the supposed Unicorns who read both, as well as whatever former ballast US comics back issues I could nab from the Newsies in the Borough Market, when I had the pennies, I can confirm that Comics divide is total bollocks!

Would have thought the opposite applied - if you were an either or reader of 2000AD you were MORE likely to be in for TFUK too, and the other way around - unless pocket money/parental edict was one only.

I got both until about 1989 when I gave up pretty much anything that wasn't female.

It may not be a physical toy but a friend of mine designed a Spitfire Transformer character, her name is Warbird:
Warbird - Spitfire Transformer by Catanas192 on DeviantArt

Hmm I wonder how that lined up with the publishers of the wildly popular UK Sonic the Comic deciding that against all evidence, nobody read it for it's ongoing storyline and established lore and/or there weren't people still reading it into their adulthoods so changed it to reprints only. The comic (and the company IIRC) folded not long after
Though I guess if I were to be charitable perhaps the company was having financial issues and didn't want to have to pay writers and artists for new stuff to try and cut costs?

That... does actually look pretty good, especially for a cheap pricepoint, and as you say a great example of how you can do an Arcee without a huge backpack and still look very much like her. Heck I feel like if it were a line they could spend a little more on you could have faux kibble wings more like her screen design that fold into the back of her chest or something in altmode?

Kind of sad really that that fig in some ways seems to show more ingenuity than the most recent Generations iteration of her
What is the name of that line BTW? Is that these 'Authentics' I've heard about?

:lol  I read this in the style of classic British comedians like Two Ronnies, Monty Python etc... the classic shopkeep sketch where things get more and more absurd but the shopkeep delivers it matter of factly and the customer gets more and more irate. :D

Was gonna say, probably so they can 'truthfully' advertise the sale prices even if there's a tiny * hidden somewhere.

    ...

Also: Wow, glad I didn't pay for faster delivery... Kapow have dispatched Big Powered and he's being sent next day even though I only picked free  . Also glad I did decide to get him when I did as he's out of stock again. Granted I might have put him out of stock but s'all good :D

    ...

Also I have that weird problem of not being sure if I really enjoy a fig, but he was an exclusive so if I get rid of him and regret it it would be hard to get him again. The fig in question right now being Artfire who, admittedly I mainly got for Nightstick. There's also the issue if I ever did move him on I'd want to keep all the weapons and accessories :lol

The problem is for me he sufers from the issue that he's very square and it seems my tastes tend more towards bots with some more angles and/or interesting stuff to them. I even tend to find G1 Primes pretty plane. Like I currently have ER Prime out and he just looks very 'Meh' to me, just plain and boxy. Siege Prime and BB Prime while being the same basic idea just have more visual interest for me than a more straight G1 Toon Prime. That said even Siege Prime looks a bit plain compared to some of my others now. I actually have similar problems with Siege Megs these days too :-/
That said, accessories can do wonders, like how my AU Prime is Revenant Prime and rocking a bitching cloak, sword and Megatron's fusion cannon.
I'm glad I got ER Prime on the cheap though. While he'll be handy if/when I do a photo comic about Revenant for flashbacks, and/or if I successfully do the hand transplant with Siege Prime, he's got little else going for me :-/

Ah, sorry for the ramble and sorry if it seems like I'm taking a dump on anyone's favourite toys, I am of course just sharing my own opinions and none of this is intended as an attack on anyone :)  just the slightly rambling musings of a Transfan. :lol

    Edit:
Fonestly, fuck fandom conflicts in general. Just let people like what they like, it doesn't have to be a conflict.:rock
I've also been told in the past I shouldn't like X because it's a rip off of Y but then I look at Y and like while I see there's some similarities I still personally feel X executed the idea better?
Other times of course you can have two series be very similar and one may even be a blatant knock off of the other but both end up doing something interesting and executing it differently so in the end you have two good series exploring similar themes in different ways.

@Xaran Alamas, do you have any of the Maketoys Primes? Got a feeling Striker and Thunder Manus would be right at home with you.

Definitely read both as a kid and a Hammerstein / Death Head team up would have been my ultimate "What If?" as a youngster.

Paid my NewAge toy Prime balance at the weekend, fingers crossed for a few weeks grace before I have to pay for the 'Toxitron" version... I still want to get G2 Beachcomber and Ramjet before they disappear. Roll on NewAge announcing their Scourge, my metallic Galvatron needs both his sparkly henchmen.

No but now you've got me thinking I should look 'em up :lol

Edit: Hmm yeah those are a lot more dynamic takes on G1 Prime :)  not sure I'd be willing to put down that much money for another Optimus though :D  but thanks for the thought <3

Yup. This describes my life in the 80's. Whatever I could get/afford I got, and devoured. DC, Marvel, odd reprints of the Tower Comic era T.H.U.N.D.E.R Agents, even the Eagle if I was really jonesing.

Not least because there was a pretty generous crossover between the talent pools. Barry Anderson, for instance, drew some of the most siginfican't Dredd stories of my youth. I really don't know what Roberts was smoking here, but he's certainly fallen into the trap of universalising what would seem to be a very specific experience. No wonder he struggles without a strong editor (*ducks*).

What's beguiling about this is that it's a conflict seemingly manufactured by a creator about some comics from about 35 years ago. I feel like I should roll out the 'literally no-one: ' meme.
Up to this moment I have never considered how amazing it would be to see Blackblood and Death's Head in the same comic. That's big energy!

    Ready?

    Sure?

    Ok. I'll begin

I don't remember exactly when I stopped getting the TF comic but I want to say it was around '89 or so since that was when I last bought a TF. I wasn't into what was coming up so I just stopped - pretty sure Metroplex was the last one I got. The 'Special Teams' did nowt for me and Headmasters did even less - although I did get the Marvel US miniseries.

I was buying 2000AD all along too and, as with @motorthing , any Marvel and DC I could get my hands on as well, except I didn't stop for girls as I have two hands and could multitask ;O). Funnily enough during the first date I ever went on - aged 14 - I popped into my LCS and picked up a few bits including the first issue of the first X-Men/Avengers miniseries as it was next door to the cinema. The girl didn't bat an eyelid.

In my school it wasn't so much reading comics that was frowned upon as being able to read at all.

Well, it's all working out nicely right now as I've got the Omegalock package coming tomorrow and Kapow have just refunded my deposit for the tapes and said they'll send Acoustic Wave out ASAP. :D

There was a Legendary Toys KO of Striker Manus and the Nemesis repaint that may be cheaper to get if you can find it.

In the meantime, had a mail call which will help the convalescence :

I tend to use a progression of about 3 drill bits (the ones from places like Poundland with wide fittings for the handles are ok to just use with your fingers), if you do this and use larger diameters each time to a maximum of 4.8mm (starting with my ickle Warhammer one), you can then lean the last one side to side a bit, to create a hole that is smaller at the bottom, so posts fit in it more snuggly.
Me and my obsession with holes, its just a bit disturbing really....

There are many rules that may look a bit dishonest/picky but are mostly there to protect the few real shops we have left,
especially from the "this bloke drew a 5 quid sign on that Ferrari, so you have to sell it to me for that".
"No, we absolutely don't, and please talk to your GP to enquire as to whether being a t**t is curable".

I had my head turned in Halstead by the Jinbao OS Bruticus, he's much more happy with the other mahoosive boys than the Warbotron (i.e. original) one was, I will have to move that shelf around again though....
    two brutes.jpg messy titans.jpg
The scariest bit is that I have the CW one too, but couldn't get him out in time.

With a visit to Weston next Saturday and a few bits from lovely people on here, it could be an expensive few weeks...

I'd definitely count myself as both a collector of the TF Marvel UK run (right up until its end) and 2000AD (still going strong). It was never a choice between the two.
