    Personally I prefer a white or chrome background in general, but always on red figures. If you like the toon insignia look, I would suggest a white-outline symbol on clear backing, if anyone makes such a thing.

    Yeah, I've been messing with this figure recently and it's still such a mixed bag. So awesome and so flawed all at the same time.. I'll never get over the lower build quality, but I'm still impressed by how everything somehow squeezes together in both modes with absolutely no room to spare. Plus it looks so good in both modes you somehow "unsee" the giant neck apparatus... But then, c'mon Takara is that really your solution to the head?? :rolleyes:  Like I said, a mixed bag lol

    I've always had a fondness for Pipes. My youngest brother got him the same day I got my first Transformer G1 Outback way back in 1986.

    Strangely Pipes disappeared a week or two after he got him. One of the greatest mysteries of my childhood.

    In 1999, I went to a Star Wars exhibition in Dublin promoting the Phantom Menace.
    Afterwards, my friend brought me to a shop that sold second hand Transformers. I wasn't into collecting then but I did have all of our childhood Transformers stored safely away.

    In that shop, two figures caught my eye: Pipes and Blot. I'd completed the Stunticons, Combaticons and Protectobots but my Terrorcons were missing Blot. Despite not being into collecting Transformers at the time, I bought them both.

    My youngest brother also had Slammer so picking him and Pipes up today reminds me of him. He lives a few hours away so I don't see him often.

    This has got to be my favorite Transformer toy of all time…it is seriously…beautiful!

    MP-47 is the only Masterpiece figure I’ve ever regretted buying, and my copy had no QC issues— which is the only good thing I can say about it. I later finally found a Gundog 2Y, which is the definition of G1 Hound in my opinion and one of my favorite toys of my collection.
