I had mine in combined mode for a few years on a shelf, the part where Scrapper's shovel (should) lock in for combined mode has broken because of the weight of the whole body.

So he can't stand anymore...It's a poor design choice.

I'd sell him but who would want a broken Devy?

    Damn, that sucks.

I got United Devastator a couple years back and immediately thought “this thing is going to crumble”.

I honestly only had it combined for like a couple of weeks and it back into the box since. I taken it out once or twice, and actually bought the Super7 Reaction Devastator figure for a desk toy to satisfy my Devastator itch, lol.

I got the Encore G1 Devastator reissue from a long time ago also, and that thing is delicate as hell in combined mode also so he stays in box.

So if O.P. did or didn’t buy a CW Devastator, I’d recommend Super7 Reaction Devastator for a companion piece and/or your main Devy. :p

Funny thing is, the head sculpts on the combiner wars Devastator/ Constructicons are probably the most satisfying components. Did you ever decide to get your Devastator???

I got it back in July. While it is flawed in some aspect, it's also a really fun toy that I would have loved as a kid.

I also imagined how I would have been mind blown as a kid. I was just transforming mine a couple days ago for the first time in a long time. I realize something troubling that you might want to keep an eye out for. The peg on the wing that attaches to the chest of Devastator closest to scavenger can get stuck, so be careful. I don't know about you but it really bothers me to have a broken part on my figures.

The plastic on my copy of Hook is crappy and mushy. A tab broke off where Hook's tow have join together to form Devastator's upper torso when I first got Devastator back in 2015 and I had to replace it with a bar. The figure doesn't hold together all that well, IMHO, the mushy plastic notwithstanding.

I just leave him combined all of the time. This is the only Devastator figure that I have, so he's not going anywhere despite the poor QC.

We really do need an upgrade but I don't think we can trust Hasbro to do Devastator Justice. That having been said I would not be surprised if I were to purchase the next Hasbro Devastator LOL. In the meantime if my combiner Wars Devastator falls apart at least I can use its solar beam rifle for my Newage Hephaestus. 20220109_080615.jpg 20220109_082519.jpg 20220109_140421.jpg

I dont suppose anyone ever made a clip of any kind on shapeways to hold Scrappers shovel in place even if the clip breaks

Yeah, as much as I love my CW Devy, he's definitely not perfect. I do worry about some of the tabs/clips breaking and Long Haul is a bit stout. Predaking really shows how far they came on the learning curve of big combiners (granted, there still had to be compromises made for budget). That thing is rock solid when combined. Im sure there will be another devastator at some point down the line, but I wouldn't bet on it being too soon since they just rereleased the CW Devy.

I am fine with CW Devastator but the big drawback on him is some of the individual bot modes had to have some sacrifices to accommodate the combine mode and it shows. Especially on Long Haul. I have him displayed in combined mode but what I have done is taken a few doll stands that I had picked up at Hobby Lobby a few years back to help support him and take some of the weight off his feet to try to help keep any structural clips or tabs from breaking.

You got me thinking, so I took a real close look at tab and slot on Scrapper. 20220122_134243.jpg If it's this little green tab in the middle of the bar, 20220122_134334.jpg that clips into this rectangle behind his head then you're probably better off remaking your own tab. Wow, I could see how that would be a pain. Maybe if you made a clip that was an extension from the rectangle slot that would clip onto the bar since that part is broken already? None of these options are going to look great I don't think, but a giant printed clip is not going to be better than a string wrapped around the base in foot mode, is my thinking on it. If you had little screws that go on the hinges of glasses you could perhaps replace the tab with one of those screws.

I managed to glue my tab back on. It was ugly but held for awhile. Broke off again.

I only just unboxed my CW Devy reissue this past Sunday and words cannot express my disappointment. Perhaps it was a mistake not getting to it until long after I got the OS Gravity Builder. Or maybe it was a mistake getting him so long after Combiner Wars. Maybe he was good "for his time" but boy, does the engineering, articulation, paint apps and proportions ever take a backseat to everything we got not only in 3rd party, but in Kingdom/ER/Siege as well. The bots are all masterpiece scale but looks trashier than our mainline figures, making the constructicons look out of place beside MP figures and main line figures alike. You could almost get away with keeping him in combined mode for your main line figs at least if you don't already have Gravity Builder but that is his only saving grace. But heaven help you if you nudge him wrong or his weapon will fall off or his arm or shoulder peg will pop out of place. He's like a big hand grenade and not stable at all.

I hope we get a SS86 version of these in a year or so. CW Devy sacrifices everything for combined mode in my opinion, so a SS86 version should be all about keeping the individual Constructicon bots in proportion and in scale with the mainline figs as nothing else checks that box. They need to do what they did with SS Hotrod and make them modern deluxes sold at the voyager price point to give them the budget and apps they deserve. I don't care if they make a smaller Devastator, just make the bots in a modern aesthetic and in scale with modern articulation.

I like your thinking with their needing to be one from Studio series. I like combiner Wars Devastator but he's far from perfect. If you really loved Devastator, start saving your money now because when they finally come out with a really good one it will cost a lot. Inflation is going to start to kill this Market, this fandom. Here's the real sadness: this may be the end of the Renaissance Transformers has been having. New Management at Hasbro, inflation, international shipping relations, and 3rd party copyright crackdowns should be expected once Hasbro starts to fail because of new design management. The future is not looking very bright for collectors.

Excellent post, I keep trying to state this but with many with nothing better to do than "prove" that Hasbro NEEDS to keep increasing prices (with nothing more than their internet expertise)... and what's ironic today is that there was a discussion in another forum about yet another price increase... Leaders that were 69.99$ CAD just last year or so, have jumped a THIRD time since and are now going to be around 85$ CAD (and the smaller class are also increasing). It's freaking nuts. Responses from some members were that they were done/out. Mention from some was about just looking for deals (used) and/or go with 3rd parties only and/or just quit the hobby.
