I thought it would be interesting to see who and how I've "upgraded" my transformers collection. Some figures have been upgrade and I've still kept them - Green tick while others have come in all shiny and new but have not survived. I find it interesting which companies trump others and how fluid my collection is.

 

Got Badcube Huff and holy shit, why can't all Badcube figures be this easy to transform?

 

Their Insecticons are actually pretty cool in this respect too.

Very impressed with the feel over PLA. Makes me wanna get a resin printer!

The slingshot addition for Ollie was sorely needed tho.

 

Curious how some upcoming updates turn out, like XTB Inferno and Galvatron

Also, quite a few I'd like an update of like the Nissan bros and Wheeljack

I don't normally ever mix lines but I actually really like how origin bumblebee looks with the others in alt mode. Probably way too small for proper scale but I think it looks great. I'll probably get a stand for him and keep him with the FT minis.

 

Just got these two guys, so here's a few snapshots:

 

His colors look great in that lighting. Well done! Not to say his colors don't always look nice - I just really like how they turned out in your photo.

 

Thanks! In most lighting, his face plate looks a lot more pink but under my lamp in my photo closet it looks a lot better.

 

So since mt DS001 Skywarp seems to be trapped with a shipping feedback loop.. or maybe a singularity... I decided to continue with transforming my Autobots back to bot-mode.

Today's patient is MMC Backdraft (AKA Inferno)!








On an individualized basis, Backdraft's alt-mode looks pretty convincing as a Mitsubishi Fuso-type fire-truck.

Rubber tires that actually roll... opening doors with an area for a driver... nice heft... chromed front grill and bumper and sculpted rear lights (not stickers).

After all these years, I think there's still a lot to like here!

Unfortunately, the masterpiece alt-mode scale is a tough nut to crack. I don't think any of the alt-mode figures reflected above are actually in scale with each other.

But that doesn't stop MMC Backdraft from still looking good as a fire truck!


And now... after a year or so in alt-mode...



Not bad... Not bad at all!!

I'm still intrigued by the upcoming releases of XTB's Dante and DaVinci (putting Italy on the map!), but I'm not sure if I will be swapping out my MP-35 or my MMC Backdraft!



I think this guy still has a lot to offer, even in today's hyper-toon-centric markets!




His arms are a good length (no Guerilla arms). There's nothing overly blocky. He's got a nice looking chromed front grill and bumper.

For someone, I suppose the gaps in the lower legs are a bit of a deal-breaker. But I haven't been to bugged out by that.

What bugged me out for a while was the fact that I was never able to get Backdraft's head canopy fully closed before..



...but something changed with this transformation. Maybe Backdraft was afraid of being trapped in alt-mode for another year.. i don't know... but this time, everything seems to be tabbing in perfectly!!
