Whatever we get I'd say visually it will be similar to whatever the current Generations toys are.

So you’ve never made a mistake? I find that hard to believe. Now your extrapolating your opening of sink or swim to the entire company instead of the individual. So who’s responsible in your eyes the individual writers or the company responsible for hiring them? Your complete confidence in success tells me you prioritize arrogance over over growth. I’m sure you have made mistakes but you choose not to see them. Just as there are multiple robotics companies there are multiple comic book companies and there can only be 1 top performer. The people that wrote the not so great comics from IDW obviously don’t deserve a medal for their work, but they don’t deserve to be blacklisted either. You have a poor attitude on life I hope you don’t have kids

As I've said several times before, it would be great if Simon Furman works as an editor in the next era of comics to properly direct the franchise. Nobody has such knowledge and skill at long term planning as Furman.

And I would much rather have Transtech.

    Tell it.

    Bring it on.

Hate multiverse idea, but would love to see something original attempted with Transtech. A spiritual successor to Beast Machines without having to really reference BM all that much, just "in spirit". I'd be so intrigued.

Beast Machines is the only Transformers story outside of IDW that actually had a meaningful ending. Beast Machines without Beast Machines leaves out the best part.

Ah...I should clarify. I just meant since it's been so long, I wouldn't mind if they wanted to make a more loose connection with Transtech than to make it a squarely a "Beast Wars" pt3. I think it should be a BW3 but without having to force new fans to watch BW and BM in order to understand. That's all I meant. Beast Machines is VERY meaningful and I think it and Transtech deserve another pass by the creatives at Hasbro and whoever else they might collaborate with.

I get the inspiration behind this take, but it's important to point out that being an editor is an actual job with critical skills beyond--and often completely separate from--crafting a huge narrative for others to follow. I would want a solid editor as an editor before trying to fill a Hickman "head of X" type role.

Moreover, personally, I'm more interested in the possible range of stories we might see from a new publisher more than a unified ur-narrative. TF versus GI Joe, Joe Sierra Madre, and the MLP crossover are highlights of the IDW era as much as any of the major titles within the continuity.

Not that I want or need this crossover, but I bet if they approached it in a MTMTE type way (more Seinfeld, about nothing just hanging out) there might be some gold to be found there. Yes taking it seriously has limited possibilities, but the ridiculousness of MTMTE could be a better fit.

This is some of the most arrogant, hypocritical nonsense I've heard in a while. EVERYONE makes mistakes in their lives and professions. That includes you as well. Now if someone was constantly churning out poorly-made garbage for a living, it would be an entirely different matter. And even then, some iterations and franchises have managed to squeak by for a little while.

No, generally speaking, I don't make mistakes. Not anymore. Not at this stage in my career. Oh sure programming bugs are part of the game. That's not a mistake. That's just part of the dev process. But a project misfire? Something that requires the project to be redirected or a major redesign? Or missing milestones or having deliverables not perform? Doesn't happen, for me or anyone else here. If you make mistakes like that you're finished. We don't keep people who do that. That's why we're the top company in the US in our field. That's why our projects are completed on schedule and on or under budget. That's why we're the first choice of businesses and government. And that's not arrogance. It's confidence. We work our assess off to be that.

Your approach is incompatible with successful, aggressive development and business growth. It's a product of a generation of American parents telling their kids it's okay to be mediocre at something so long as they're good at something else and tried real hard in the process of failure. That was all lie. It was part of the failed culture that gave everyone a participatory trophy. A culture where people dope themselves up with medications and drugs because they never learned how to healthily harness and channel their anxieties. You absolutely grow through failure, no doubt. But that ends being acceptable at some point in your late-early adulthood. At this level, your growth is expected to be mostly complete and you're expected to produce. I would demand the same of any company - or any people - I work with.

Pulling it back to comics, Transformers comics is a totally failed product right now and has been for years. In the past it was a very successful product. if it wants to be a successful product again, it needs to not give failures another chance. It needs new blood and a new approach.

Then you're not gonna like the sequel, I'm afraid because I double down hard. *points up a post*

Plenty of that on these forums from those who aren't in the "top company in the US in their fields". Ha...

Though I will say, it's nice to see a TF fan with an actual "reason" for their arrogance for once, other than the usual I've-been-a-fan-for-a-long-time badge.

Beast Machines has aged like fine wine. Looking back, it's insane that cartoon got approved. Figures were mostly misfire, but it's one of only a handful of TF projects that doesn't patronize its audience.

It also has better visuals than the Netflix WFC series.

That said, I've tried reading some of IDWs stuff and I found them to be very boring and sloppy. So I'm certainly not fussed about them losing licenses for anything of Hasbro's.

HA you are so right. It's a shame no other company seems to have been able to come close to the life that Mainframe was able to infuse into its shows.

I agree. Doing it semi-comedically would be better. But the failure of LL/MTME sales wise shows there probably isn't much of a market for it.

They made their characters feel like actual people. You could get invested in them. I think Transformers Prime got *pretty* close but still nowhere neasr to the Mainframe shows.

The WFC series characters had all the life of the plastic toy Transformers sitting on myself. It felt like I was sitting on the guest room bed, playing with them as if I were a kid. Except it was a multi-million dollar animated CG series.

It was VERY good and only gets better.

You guys; I don't want to come off like a prick here, but it bears repeating; they aren't going to start the books off with anything that isn't as mainstream as possible. That means pretty much one of two things at this point; G1 redux or movie stuff. Movie stuff seems like it doesn't work super well in comics form.

A Sunbow continuation is less unlikely than it would have been at one point, but I don't know how sustainable or even desirable that would be.

This is, frankly, a very sad worldview. You're suggesting that by early adulthood, people should not strive for personal or professional growth? That by adulthood, you should lock yourself into a career and identity, and strive only to not make mistakes? That people should AIM to simply become a cog in a system that gets thrown out if it breaks?

    How depressing.
