Visited there last night. They still have Transformers, but they've been moved to a "clearance" end cap one aisle over. Same with a bunch of the Snake Eyes Movie figs and a bunch of the Marvel Legends on another end cap. These are all where the "clearance" items are normally kept, but I price checked and they're all full price. Another Target moved a bunch to the high-vis end cap across from Electronics/Pet supplies where I rarely see clearance stuff. Did see the ReAction Joes on pegs at a couple Targets this week so it looks like things are getting pushed out to make room for new.
Columbus Walmart at Rome-Hilliard & I-70:. Beast War re-issues are now in the clearance section. Rattrap and Cheeto I spotted for about 25% off. 4" GI Joe Stalker and Cobra are also on the same clearance shelf. The toy aisle is now pretty bare. Stopped by 5 Targets while travelling across Ohio today. Dayton has ReAction Joes while Columbus doesn't. They're all shifting Transformers, Joe, Marvel, He-Man to end caps but only the 12" Snake Eyes stuff and Battlecat actually seem to be on clearance.
Man that Beast Wars line flopped. Funny that a second wave is supposedly still happening with Scorponok and Tigatron. Wonder if Walmart will even sell them or if theyll just end up on Pulse.
I would have bought more if they offered more characters but I have the full line. I wish they would have released like a full set of the basic classes I would have spent a ton more money
It also doesn't help when the boxes got damaged easily when a LOT of people wanted them for the packaging, and they released these while the newer redesigns of the characters were on the shelf right next to them. To most non hardcore collectors with nostalgia, the new figures are more visually appealing.
I know that I did not pick any up (may grab rattrap on clearance) because I had those molds from the Beast Wars 10th release and i am not a MIB collector. If they had left the main cast and did the Polar Claw etc I would have been much more enticed to pick them up. I mean I have the kingdom Cheetor- don't really need to shag the original.
^ Exactly the issue. Why rerelease the same characters that are have not only been rereleased before, but have newer iterations of them on the same shelves? That just sounds stupid.
I really think that is what is killing the vintage re-releases- I mean I started collecting at the tail end of Beast Machines- so when the "Book Style" re-issues were hitting it was the first time that it was easy to get a tight release of the original toy- complete unstickered- since then We continue to get Starscream and Optimus Prime reissued- they have moved away from the others in the line. The market is inundated with the same figure over and over again-- so when we get the option to get a vintage Optimus Prime, now without a trailer because the mold just cannot keep up, people are surprised it goes deep clearance.
Geier drive target and red bank rd Walmart both have nothing (Walmart did have the RED knockout if anyone is still looking for him). Target looks like they’re doing a reset and Walmart looks like just a regular empty Walmart
Transformers Generations War for Cybertron: Kingdom Deluxe WFC-K38 Red Alert Red Alert is up on Walgreens yall
Was surprised to see he hadn't sold out as of 30 minutes ago when I saw the head's up, so I got my order in. Had mildly given up on landing one previously.
Wow! Still up too. Just snagged one. Had no idea if I was gonna ever be able to get him. Thanks for the heads up! EDIT: Also, Chapel Hill Target had one Slammer last night. It was on the front end cap hanging behind a Blackarachnia
Late post, but yesterday afternoon Northgate Target was putting out new Transformers. 2 Pipes and 2 Slammers on the deluxe pegs, snagged one Slammer (he's ok, doesn't stay together for shit). Only voyagers were a fresh case of Tigers and Rhinos. No new Joes, save for the Super7 retro ones.
