So I am just throwing this question out there. Is it worth it to try and sell all of my FT boxes in a lot? Are people willing to pay like $100 for boxes plus shipping or do I toss them? I have no interest in separating and selling them individually. LOFL! Thanks fellas.

I had about 2 dozen boxes (All dibots, Phoenix, Hydra, Omegas, etc) that I tried to sell last year. All came with box and foam and were in mint shape. Was asking about $30-$40 per box plus shipping and couldn't sell a single one. Basically anyone who was interested were out as soon as shipping got calculated (literally would send them the box dimensions and my zip, so they could see the calc on USPS website). Most of the boxes were too big or heavy for the cheap shipping options.

Doesn't hurt to list. Who knows someone may want them or just offer them for a cheaper price.

Good question. Althought i don’t no what would be a fair price for for example Galvatron / Sovereign box.

These things can never be said never. The first idea that came to mind and that what a collector could do in the collection room / collection space from those boxes would be some kind of partition if needed. The so-called partition wall.

I myself have sometimes thought of this for myself, but there has not yet been a need to do so.

This thread is very welcome in my opinion.

One problem with that is even though the weight will be down without figures shipping a lot of FT boxes fully in tact is going to be a rather large package (obviously depending on who and how many). That could be quite the shipping cost for the size alone.

People like me, who tossed out most of their boxes to save space, may be interested in certain ones (for potential resale value).

I don’t have my dibot boxes anymore, Hydra box, Sovereign, Thomas, the bugs, etc.

If the price was right, I would likely be interested in those. But surely not at $30-40 a box + shipping.

Yeah, shipping them all together is going to be quite expensive.

That was my experience as well. Kept trying to talk me down and balked at the shipping cost. To get it down to a price the other person would've been willing to pay, it wouldn't have been worth the trouble for me to find a shipping box and pack them up.

Don't toss them and don't give away 20% of your money by listing them on FeeBay. I would advise you to list them on a Facebook collector's page. With newly inflamed shipping rates, that would shy people away, but there may be fellow collectors in your vicinity who would be interested in picking them up. It's worth a shot.

BTW, if anyone has the box for Reximus Prime, I'm interested.

    It’s just a hard sell.

Getting a big box + shipping could equal out to buying a brand new figure from a retailer with free shipping. It’s all shitty, sadly.

@junkbot - if you’re in PA and around my area and the prices are right; I’d totally be interested in snagging some of the boxes I listed a few replies above.

After having smelled them and taken everything out I have no use for boxes.
In the beginning I kept them all until one day, when they started taking up too much room I threw them out except for the figures I wasn't 100% happy with. I maybe should have kept a few more, but definitely not all of them.

weigh the figure. tape together some pennies for the right weight. stick em in the box. reseal the tape. sell it to some MISB only collector who never opens the boxes. list it as shrodinger's fanstoy robot , complete MISB. laugh all the way to the bank. make the MISB collector happy too. what he doesn't know won't hurt him. :p  no, actually don't do this. that would be fraud. a victimless crime sort of but still fraud.

I'd just sell them locally. No shipping. IMO, 3P boxes are not all that necessary (worthless), even for resale value (I mean, I wouldn't care). Some others may, but I just do not see why.

Official boxes are a different story (like it or not), but even then I have a hard time seeing how I could offer more than $20 (that's what I paid for a once bought "fixed" MP09 Roddy on eBay (came complete W/O box).

Yup I've seen FT boxes on Ebay go for £20/40! I saw a mad bid for a Lupus box only, go for quite a bit a year ago. But everyone here is right, you'll do better just posting them on sites like these or selling locally to avoided fees

The only boxes I've been successful selling are the Botcon boxset boxes, and I think that's only because Funpub used to also sell bagged sets without the box and people wanted to complete their set.

I have to agree, I don't think many people would see that much value in most 3P boxes. Honestly the only boxes that seem to sell for any kind of money these days are G1 boxes.

Selling boxes can be a tough one. For me, if I had received one of my FT figures in a damaged box and couldn't get a replacement from a retailer, I could see myself trying to find a moderately priced replacement in mint condition. I would really hesitate to pay a lot for a replacement box on top of the cost of the initial purchase. If I had damaged the box after I received the figure, then I would probably be willing to pay like $30 bucks because it was my fault it got damaged.
