? Nin-nin has been around for years. They're not new. Their pricing on the items you mentioned is consistent with local Japan prices minus the Japan tax. Mafex has always been more expensive in the US by 30 to 40 USD. Zarbon is $60 something dollars in the US which doesn't include taxes and shipping fees. So they're pretty much the same at retail. A lot of us here have been getting stuff from them. I've ordered and received mafexes from them in the past 2 years or so.
With RARE exception I exclusively get my Mafex and other figures from Japan, so I'm not comparing those sale prices with the price tags seen at BBTS, Toy Dojo, etc. I will stand corrected if Nin Game has been around awhile though. I had only ever heard them brought up around the timeframe of N-Y's collapse. So on that basis I'll retract my statement about and suspicions of NG.
Their mafex is typically around 5 usd lower or so from hlj or amiami. Not that big of a difference. One thing to note is they will add the PayPal fee on your order so the difference becomes negligible.
It is correct that nin-nin has been around for a while and certainly before the downward spiral of NY. I would point out that way before the waves of complaints about NY emerged, I had a bad experience with nin-nin and have never bothered using them again. They seem to be getting their act together but there are enough options out there and they don’t bring anything special enough to entice me back.
I still in the weeds about why a Matcha exporter has a link to Nin-Nin game in their footer. I mean as far as webrings go even this is extreme, they aren't even remotely related. Do those two Material Matcha guys like Japanese action figures that much? And to have it link to the same website which NY was redirecting to before, it's really bizarre.
An update on my end. Of that ~123k yen (~$1400CAD), only ~44k yen (~$500CAD) over 3 orders was paid directly via my credit card after Nippon-Yasan stopped taking Paypal. Earlier this week, I got reimbursed ~$400CAD from my credit card company after opening up a dispute about a month ago; only one of the orders was not reimbursed because it was an "in-stock" purchase versus the other two preorder orders. Better than nothing. So my buddy and I together lost ~$1000CAD on this. It's not quite so bad for me as only about $200CAD of that was mine. It definitely hurts my friend a lot more.
Interesting that it happened today. I got my final item from NY that shipped out. Gundam ANIME Perfect Gundam Red Warrior. Processed through the port on Nov. 20th. Took almost 3 months to get here. The current shipping congestion compounded by more normal shipping congestion I imagine..
Just out of curiosity I went to check if the site was still down; it seems they have silently 'morphed' into a Matcha company.
Huh. Nin-Nin isn’t doing themselves ANY favors in regards to the “NY to NN flip” conspiracy theory with stuff like this:
Ouch. I still have a Figuarts and a Hi-Metal owing. I was just thinking I should chase them up… lucky I followed up the Zaku and Warhammer figures back then. In all my online buying this is my first loss.
Probably because Nin-nin and MMU is owned by the same person? https://jp.linkedin.com/in/etienne-denoual-233418
They probably used an outdated form from 2016 or 2017, they have Toyark listed and Toyark hasn’t posted Macross news for years if it wasn’t part of a sponsor update or related to Robotech
As one of those people: seriously WTF is this? That's a photoshop right? I am feeling very triggered now... So many feelings! Ironically, I came today to report that - after MUCH angst about it - I FINALLY bit the bullet and ordered a set of the Movie Strike Parts for my VF-1S. I was really bitter about losing so much money at NY (2x Strike sets and 2x Super sets) and didn't want to spend more money to get something I felt like I had already paid for. But I found some on Amazon Japan and since the exchange rate is good I decided to finally just do it. Might never get the Super parts but I feel like the VF-1S Strike Valkyrie really needs those parts to complete the look.
Oh great. Now Amazon Japan will go out of business and never ship your Strike parts. Just kidding. Glad to hear the pain of the loss is not as bad so you could buy a Strike set.
