I thought I'd read he'd said Defensor would be next if Menasor went down well. Didnt realise that was just his thoughts. I would have thought if there's more combiners in future, Superion would be next to go with Menasor. Not that I mind the CW version, the only thing i would improve is the torso be much more filled out.

Yeah he later clarified that he wanted Defensor to be next followed by Bruticus as he felt those weren't done as well as they could have in CW, which I agree with. Right now we have nothing on what combiner is next or if one is even being planned right now.

Hmm, I'm gonna be honest I don't think I recall this happening at all.

Fingers crossed we do. I would love better / more solid versions.

I'm only willing to accept the partsforming if it's in service of a good enough combiner mode, so I'll wait until they reveal Menasor fully combined before I decide on buying this guy. Robot and vehicle both look amazeballs though.

It's possible that Dragstrip forms Menasor's arm by plugging into an unextended arm frame. This engages the catch that allows Dragstrip to separate in two. Then you'd extend the Menasor arm and the 2 Dragstrip parts would split and follow the upper and lower parts of the arm.

Partsforming but not really partsforming in a way.

The issue is if you leave it too long Dragstrip may sell out and then ya stuck in aftermarket territory to get him to finish Menasor. I ordered him as soon as saw him A. Cause he looks fantastic and B. Cause of the if I dont and Menasor looks incredible then I dont want to have to try hunt him down.

You are aware that UW Motormaster is a GPS-style sufferer, yes? Not a great investment piece.

*knock on wood* since the Motormaster box got leaked I'm assuming that he will be "revealed" Tuesday. It would be a total d*ck move NOT showing the combined form along with the main body.

Still, I may just get the limbs and leave them unopened until a proper Menasor review comes out. If I don't care for Menasor I can either return the limbs or sell them on ebay.

Are you trying to convince yourself that it’s not partsforming, or everyone else? Just call it what it is.

A combiner is inherently a partsformer. It’s literally a combination of separate parts. Whether or not a person likes the “cars attached to a skeleton frame” concept is up to them. In my opinion, it’s a half-assed, lazy solution, but I think combiners are a huge design compromise anyway. Either the combined form suffers, or the individual bots do. And as combiners go, Menasor has never been great.

Legacy Drag Strip looks good enough as a stand-alone robot for my interests. I don’t generally combine teams anyway (I own the XTB set but didn’t bother with the combiner parts), and I wouldn’t want to divide the robot in order to make the arm work— if there’s no built-in elbow joint, then I don’t see the point.

I'm well aware of that, but I'm just going to keep most of the dudes in indivdual modes because I just want to recreate this panel:

I still can’t find this guy at retail.

I like the design but wish they’d added a few details, like carrying the red stripe over the feet and painting the nicely molded exhaust pipes. It’s a great sculpt, but I may try to toy-deco the head on mine when I finally get it.

Wave 1 still hasn't been widespread released. Trust me, in 6 months you'll be complaining about w1 figures clogging shelves and w3 being nowhere in sight

    Combiners are literally partsformers.

Not every combiner requires the limb-bots to be literally pulled apart in half for combination and you know it.

I wish Hasbro has a more satisfying way to combine the bots. Something stable yet smooth with a nice click. Like how the Japanese Megazords combine. Prolly never gonna happen.

I agree with both sentiments. Combiners are indeed partsformers, but the splitting of the robot into what is basically attachable armor for an existing limb is simply poor design. Menasor basically becomes a big skinny guy wearing broken cars.

And accuracy to a lousy animation model (not actually the case here regardless) is never a valid excuse for a lousy toy design.
