Realism went out the window Hasbro started and imported the line in 1984 - a cassette player that turns into a full-size robot, a Walter P-38 that turns into a giant robot, a parts forming base (Omega Supreme).

And other people value the convincingness of the alt modes.

I'm not saying there's not room in the franchise for both. I love me some Beast Machines Vehicons, personally. But if an aesthetic decision is made, sometime it takes certain engineering techniques off the table.

No significant attachment to Prime Arcee but the mold looks great! I'll definitely be picking up a Flamewar retool when that hopefully happens, and depending on how Road Rocket looks I might be tempted by him too. This is one of the best looking bike modes they've ever managed to do. The only thing I don't like is the wheel halves on her lower legs, but those could be made to look better if they remolded the wheels (like, say, similar to Cybertron Ransack).

It's kind of funny seeing people still comparing her against the FE figure. Have y'all not caught on by now they're intended to serve different purposes in a collection and aren't supposed to be equivalents?

I'm a Prime fan and I don't understand all the uproar over these new figures. Prime had one of the best toylines ever. Modern techniques right before quality of plastic and budget restrictions really hit hard. Having owned some of these molds I know that that bar Masterpiece we're not getting better molds of these guys.

FYI my favorite Prime character was Wheeljack, and he got an amazing mold. But characters like Arcee and Bulkhead got multiple fantastic molds.

I have no idea why anyone's expectations were through the atmosphere in the first place, especially since we were warned that these would be a new take.

That said, I still kinda like Arcee.

People aren’t missing “the point,” they don’t like “the point.”

And the rest of us who are complaining like the idea of G1 interpretations of characters from non-G1 shows, but don’t feel this is a good attempt at the concept. It neither maintains the integrity of the original design, nor does it feel G1. If anything, it feels like something from Transformers Energon. Bulkhead has the same problem.

Exactly! Even if they were based directly on the show models, new Prime toys would still look out of place next to toys from the original run because of the different design and engineering styles used now. Compare figures from the ROTF toyline with figures of those same characters from Studio Series. Some of them will fit in well enough with each other, but others are immediately identifiable as being from separate eras.

I think that point is highly debatable, but we know what their intention is. I do get the Energon vibes, but seeing as it's possibly partially based on a G2 design (which differs very little from G1) I'd say this is what G1 Prime Arcee would be.

I think her reception also suffered because early pictures showcased a lack of imagination on how her kibble / accessories could be used and posed.

I think if the designers got a little closer to the design sketch of Bulkhead, there would be no complaints, but plans don't survive the battle field.

That said, he doesn't look terrible. And it's possible I might get him.

I mean, if you aren’t complaining about the way she looks, then you aren’t who I’m talking about and even then I’m generalizing. I’m genuinely happy for those who like this.

From a personal perspective, none of the sculpt here looks g1. All the lines are too angular and the curves too extreme. Everything is too exaggerated to even match the sculpt and design of most of the WFC toyline, let alone g1 cartoon. Look at the abdomen especially (alongide the rest of the torso), the little flares are completely outside a g1 aesthetic.
Even G2 Road Rocket (I loved that figure when I was a younger) is way “blockier” (for lack of better term), especially when compared to that art. Definitely had more subtle geometry, at least, even if the silhouette is way wider due to the size of the wheels. 3D558596-7E52-4ADC-AB0B-FF10A58D0330.jpeg

as for Bulkhead, I’m buying him as he’s one of my favorite characters. He doesn’t have enough of his definitive design elements, but I’ll gladly admit that the design has grown on me, especially seeing him in the reveal video where he looked a lot more proportional.

Ah a fellow Road Rocket fan.
Yeah, I'm going to miss the giant shins, but I think this will be fine...... As long as the guy who sculpted Legacy BW Buzzsaw is not anywhere near this guy. ... (Hold your nose)

    Great Road Rocket fan here.

One of the first Transformers I ever owned and one of the best G2 figures.

With that said, who honestly was expecting such a nobody like Road Rocket to return in any possible way? Especially with a mould that, while not perfectly accurate, is still very fitting and great?

I'm content with getting the upcoming Road Rocket since a new version was one of my biggest wishes but I was being realistic at expecting it to be a retool at best and let's be honest, this might be the last update we see of the character in at least another 30 years.

Definitely, I’ll buy the remold of this figure as Road Rocket sight unseen haha. I always dug Road Rocket’s design. I’m still sad that my original figure disappeared during one of my family’s moves.

The figure definitely feels like something from energon. Which had some ok designs, but nothing close to being a g1 feel.

but nobody answered me, does that backpack configuration require partsforming or not?

I think we are forgetting that TTM Arcee also came from G1 and she is also more curvy. Soooo there is G1 precedent for a slim and smooth female.

Us Roadrocket fans are just happy Hasbro remembers that amazing figure, it was one of the first highly pose-able figures and was one of my most favorites. He had a light up saw blade as a weapon.

I don't imagine we'll see the likes of Roadrocket again. But he sure would make a good sidekick to G2 Laser Prime, should they ever do a comic (hint hint)

This figure to me just isn’t feminine. The head sculpt if fine enough. But, she’s as flat as a board. I’m not asking for an anime fan service figure. But, she’s just “meh” to me. There have been way better figures of arcee made. This one just seems so budget. And honestly, nothing in this design harkens back to a g1 design style. The kingdom arcee, even with all her issues, is a nicer figure.

We are going to be disagreeing there... I have a very low opinion of Kingdom Arcee. This Legacy Arcee at the very least transforms, and manages not to have any hollows.

The folks who have it so far have not been very open about how the backpack works.

I believe the normal configuration requires no parts forming, buuut I have a small suspicion that this mode also requires no parts forming.... But we'll see.

All you Road Rocket fans on here make me happy. When people hear G2, they immediately think XTREME 90's colors, but forget or don't realize that's there's some really cool designs in there, RR being one of them.

I'm not going to get into the whole Arcee/RR debate, but I will say I'm over the moon with the little G2 love we're getting.

I decided to go in for Prime Arcee. Her transformation has lots of movement and I like how involved it is. I really like her design

I see what you're saying, and honestly you're not being pretentious. I do think it would be possible to use a transformation like that and hide the unrealistic elements. Like a single thin strut connecting the wheel to the engine cowling, while larger faux parts come in from the top and "connect" it there.
