I'd be absolutely shocked if we got another victorion by 2040. Post-WFC Hasbro has shown no indication that they'll even acknowledge IDW characters beyond that one orange dude, let alone fan vote characters from a widely loathed toyline.

Since tfw users decided everything pre-Siege/Earthrise is the devils work and or actual trash

Yeah, aside from complaining about the amount of reuse, it was a rather solid line for the most part.

basically this, yeah. I for one rather enjoy most of CW but it's been a good long while since I've seen anything positive mentioned about it anywhere lol

Yeah, it's a mentality that I honestly don't get. I've still got figures in my collection from Classics through Power of the Primes and they're just fine. Also, not everything since Siege has been Hasbro's gift to their blessed children either. So, yeah, I really don't get it.

    Geewun.

I know that's basically a meme at this point but in this case it's basically the truth. Hell I've seen Siege Optimus get trashed on just because its not the Earthrise one despite how fucking good it is.

Yeah, a lot of the figures from the PW were quite good, though some would do well to get updates to fit the current aesthetic and quality better.

My bet: Victorion will not be a mold reuse of Defensor at all.

Are you counting on her not being made at all in this, cause otherwise this seems like a really poor bet.

Seems highly unlikely they won't be, but are you speculating a unique mold?

The only thing I really feel the lack of is ankle tilts when going back to older toys. My Siege Hound's janky ankles did not prepare me for how ubiquitous they would become. Wish there were somehow upgrade kits add them to Pyra Magna, Onslaught, Alpha Bravo, and the chopper sisters. They're my favorites outside of Swindle, Hound, shuttle Blast Off and Rook which have that articulation. Honestly, those particular toys are better than some we've gotten post-WFC.

Out of general curiosity, who are some characters who've recently escaped repaint/remold hell?

With the odds here, this feels less like a bet and more like orange being obligated to give you money

I don't really even care about the Turbomasters that much and I'd be really disappointed if they were made as Stunticon repaints when there are other ways they'd work so much better. Hurricane would work well enough from Drag Strip (but he'd also work well from Wheeljack if they want to preserve the windshield on his chest), but for the others, Flash would be better from one of the Datsuns (especially if they used the Siege version), Scorch would be absolutely perfect from Hoist with minimal retooling, and if Pointblank's big shoulder are able to rotate backwards (which I hope they are since that way he could also be used for Drift), he'd be perfect as Boss.
A lot of pre-CW CHUG stuff still holds up great, but CW specifically (and some of POTP) just felt like a massive drop in quality to me, even at the time. The engineering of the toys looks extremely simplified compared to what came before and after. The are lots of ugly hollow spaces where there should be flat surfaces, not just on the insides of thighs or forearms like there often are nowadays, but sometimes fully on display on parts that should've been given priority, like Swindle's shins/knees. Half the Deluxes were ruined by ugly combiner ports taking up almost their entire torsos. Characters were repainted from molds that didn't fit them at all (and usually weren't even any good to begin with). Painted windows on cars and jets added to the cheap look in vehicle mode. I'd already been out of the hobby for a few years when CW started, and to be perfectly honest, when I saw the sudden drop in quality I thought it was the beginning of the end for the franchise, and that figures were getting increasingly simplified due to rising oil prices. I'm glad the lines that came later proved me wrong.

I suppose any characters that had unique molds. But in the WFCT specifically, there was 4 main line Autobot car molds with a similar layout(car roof chest, car hood feet) in Earthrise, all with unique molds with no parts shared. In Siege, there was 2 helicopter molds for both helicopter alt molds(for helicopter-formers, that's pretty impressive), and 2 Deluxe tanks with unique molds in Kingdom. The vast majority of non-Micromaster/Battlemaster mold reuses have been very appropriate for each character. And in Legacy, we're supposedly getting a Tarantulus that doesn't share a mold with Kingdom Blackarachnia.

The very fact that the new combiners at least are *seemingly* not Combiner Wars-style limb-interchangeable hints at all of their molds being original. I suppose Victorion could have an ambulance and only 1 helicopter/car on the team. I have no idea how likely that would be though. Or 2 Streetwise/2 Blades and a unique Motorcycle mold...? Just spitballing here.

    :lol
