Well then that is some slow ass system as it still says they have them instock. Last year was pretty light for me. I bought Moira, the Wolverine 5 pack (on sale), everyone from the villains wave but AIM Scientist (whom I'm waiting to get for like $10 as I did with half of the wave), the Stiltman wave, 3 additional Hand ninjas, Thanos, the Excalibur 3 pack, MODOK, Psycho Man, Human Torch, Sandman, Jameson, Black Cat, Firestar, and the AoA wave. Actually, I guess it seems a bit bigger than I thought, but I definitely bought a lot less compared to prior years.
Not surprising for a lot of us long-time ML collectors. I know I'm starting to wind down. It's not that I don't have a lot of characters I still would like to get so much as many of those characters are definitely going to be spread farther apart than the "main players". I'm sure a lot of other collectors are starting to experience something similar if they've been in the game for some time now.
Well I've only been in the ML game since 2016, so there are still a bunch of characters or versions I want, but yeah, my list is definitely dwindling. While there are quite a few Spider-Man villains I would love to have, such as The Enforcers and Belladonna, honestly, they have pretty much covered everyone who is truly essential to Spidey. Now it's more of just getting my preferred versions of Lizard, Rhino, and Hobgoblin. Oh, and better tentacles for Doc Ock. Lastly, Aunt May is kind of necessary though it would be nice if they could do Robbie, Ned, and Betty. X-Men and Fantastic Four are pretty much where the main wants come in because I need Banshee to complete the early Claremont team. Avalanche, Blob, and Destiny are needed to finish off Mystique's Brotherhood. The Brood would be nice along with Deathbird, Lilandra, and the original New Mutants. Obviously, we do need Feral, Wolfsbane, and Rachel Phoenix to complete X-Force, X-Factor, and Excalibur. After those essentials, it would be nice if they would give us Apocalypse's original remaining trio of the Four Horsemen, Mesmero, and Sinister's Marauders. Perhaps even Proteus and the Angel that goes with that story arc. Now for Fantastic Four, there are a lot I feel we need and I'm really surprised some of them have never gotten figures period. Rama-Tut, Mole Man, Puppet Master, Red Ghost, Diablo, Alicia, Willy, Thinker, Hate Monger, Annihilus, etc. Finally, the only other dudes I will say I want to own from across the remainder of the Marvel universe are Nightmare, Baron Mordo, Terrax (reissue or updated would be nice), a Kirby-esque version of Arnim Zola, Madame Hydra, and the Living Tribunal. I'm sure there are a few others I didn't think of right now, but those are it. Thankfully, I doubt Hasbro is going to do everything I just listed in one year.
My Target didn't have the Symbiote suit today (not in the shelf at least), but I'll take the silver medal.
I've reached a similar point as far as most parts of my ML collection goes. I'm going to be keeping up with most of the MCU stuff for a while. For comic stuff, I really still only need Spider-Man-related figures, new characters would include Carrion, Overdrive, Vermin, Will O' The Wisp, Prodigy, Molten Man, Karn, Grey Goblin, Riot, Agony, Man-Wolf, Spider Slayers, and a bunch of other Spidey suits and symbiotes. Redone or new costumes would be classic versions of Chameleon, Lizard, Rhino, Toxin, Jack O' Lantern and Hobgoblin, Scorpion with the open cowl and I'd also like to get most of those on the retro card, alongside Doc Ock, Vulture, Carnage and Kraven
I'm mostly an MCU collector, so there's a much smaller pool to pull from. As far as comics go, most of the X-Men I'm interested in are unlikely to be made anytime soon. All these AoA and classic figures are just saving me money at this point. I would probably be in trouble if they announced a Thor wave, but other than that I mostly get comic figures on impulse that I think look interesting. Still looking for a Rachel Grey, and if we can get 6 yellow Logans I'd like another crack at Laura in her Wolverine gear. Unless Hisako Ichiki takes off in popularity soon I'm probably done with X-Men for a good while after that. For movies, I'm still in the market for Hawkeye, Kate, Mighty Thor, another Captain Marvel if they give her the sash and gloves for the new movie, She-Hulk, and maybe a Nick Fury if he gets a cool look for Secret Invasion. I haven't ruled out Shang Chi, Blade, or Ms Marvel. But I wasn't impressed with Hasbro's first try of the former and I'm fairly convinced I'm not going to like the latter based on changed they're making to the source material. There is no Black Panther 2.
Man I hope we’ll get a proper Superior Spider-Man soon, the last one’s lack of the backpack was really glaring.
For me, it's always been just very specific characters, so my Marvel Legends buying has always been minimal. Sometimes those characters are also part of multipacks that I have no desire to spend on, the Hellfire Club release being a good recent example. I do admit, my purchase rate went up a bit with more single collector focused characters sold through Pulse.
According to the Target website, the store about a half hour from me has Symbiote Spidey, but I also don't know that I want to take the drive up to find out they don't. Has happened many times before.
That figure has aged well but it’s time for a new version and I’d love translucent smoked lenses that are layered to replicate how it was drawn in the comics. Pinless with scribed/inkwashed lines please!
As someone who works retail, I always recommend customers call and ask ahead of time if there's something specific they're looking for. The website will never be as accurate and up to date as an employee checking themselves. Just be sure to provide the SKU so we can be certain we've got the right thing
My super thoughtful wife got me some new photography equipment. First subject is one of my favorite figures to come out last year.
I just called my local one and gave them the DPCI, which I realized was a mistake, since the DPCI for the wave is going to be different...
