Shockwave Lab SL-120 Flatbed Trailer set for Huffer mold

Although this is meant for Huffer mold, I actually find it works better on SS-38 mold figures. This will NOT work on Siege / ER OP figures to pull the trailer.

As with their Ark set, this is also a repurposed Delectation toy:
    b3b5af9a31366c1a7a4e0530995c0fed.jpeg

From what I could tell from various pictures, the original hitch area was cut out, a new hitch is glued to the bottom with additional cross bar supports (hitch housing is 3d printed, peg is injection molded), 3 3d printed parts are glued on top (which have the 5mm ports), and a new hole was cut from the back area with a 5mm port added. The whole thing is then painted over in silver. There was some factory dust that got stuck to the paint that I picked off. There is one part to assemble, which is the ramp.

One view. Anything with 5mm ports is new and glued into place. The side 5mm ports go all the way through.

    Another view.
    sl120-04.jpg

Underneath view. There is a hole cut out from the original hitch. Cross bars are added along with the new hitch; the peg is not 3d printed.
    sl120-05.jpg

The trailer fits Huffer just fine. For Huffer, the peg fits in the hitch port. He only gets limited rotation, maybe around 30 degrees. There is another center port but the trailer does not plug in well there; however, rotation is better there for full 90 degrees. Smaller cars and deluxe figures will fit into the channel between the side sections. Larger vehicles will sit on top. There's really only room for 1 decent seized Deluxe / Voyager figure. The trailer is level within reason (not perfect but good enough when using a leveler to check).
    sl120-06.jpg

2 CJ mold figures will fit, though.
    sl120-07.jpg

Because of the added 5mm ports, various accessories are able to plug in.
    sl120-08.jpg

Siege / ER OP hitch ports are too close to the cab, so the trailer will not work. However, SS-38 Bumblebee Movie Optimus Prime mold figures will work. Actually, I find the trailer works better on him. Used Premium Finish SS-02 version for the pics here.

BB OP gets the full 90 degree rotation. The trailer is also reasonably level when using a leveler to check.
    sl120-02.jpg

This shows storage of many accessories while still fitting a vehicle. The axe handle goes all the way through to the other side.
    sl120-01.jpg

Didn't have high expectations for this, but turned out better than expected, especially considering compatibility with SS-38 mold figures.

DK-26 and DK-33 are released in Asia. DK-26 already has a backwards Frenzy crotch issue. DK-33's main problems are price and not everyone wants all the parts (don't care at all about the leg extenders).

Got the JRC spoiler for cliffjumper yesterday. The color was a little too bright for Studio Series cliffjumper, so I repainted the spoiler. Now it's a little too dark, but a lot better match to the tone of red used here :)

Am I supposed to snap the pieces of this Artfire 115 upgrade kit? I’m afraid to break the parts

In the middle of the holders or right next to the piece? Didn’t think this kit would be a pain to do. Ouch. If anyone has guidelines where to cut, thank you in advance

And if you don't, a pair of fingernail clippers will work in a pinch. You'll have some leftover sprue that will need to be removed with an x-acto or sandpaper, tho.

Yeah the 115 is a bad set. I got it for Inferno and ended up replacing most of them with Go Better and JRC.

I just saw. There’s no upgrade kit for Artfire by go better studio on TF Safari. Anyone know where it’s in stock?

As far as I know GB hasn’t done an Artfire kit (I want one as well). At this point I’m pretty much planning on getting an Inferno kit and just painting the thigh fillers black.

You can just buy the Inferno kit. You'll just need to paint the thigh fillers black on your own, but it's super easy to do with even a can of spray paint.

Is there an easier black paint type to get that isn't spray paint? I need to be careful since I live in an apartment.

Any paint, outside of pure water based painted, will have a solvent of some sort. Easiest is paint markers. Main problem is streaks. It's not impossible to get a smooth finish but takes experience to do so. Gundam paint markers are the easiest to find at local hobby stores.

Painting with brushes also takes skill and time to learn to get streak-free, even finishes. For that, I would do nylon brushes with acrylic bottle paints. This is considerably more expensive than just getting a paint marker.

In an apartment setting, you could spray paint in the bathroom with the vent on. You would set up cardboard around the paint area to avoid getting paint elsewhere. Spray is fastest and easiest.

    Edit:
Roller from Centurion set is compatiable with the SL-120 flatbed trailer set too.

Huffer mold, SS-38 mold, and Roller are compatible. ER / Siege OP molds are not.

Thank you for posting a review of the SL Flatbed trailer, I'm really interested in it because it's not something you see being made all that often - even if it is a repurposed toy...

How well do you think the glued on parts will hold up over time?
