An idw head (like they did with Tesla 2.0 and Quietus) would go a long ways. Maybe an alternative blown off face headsculpt as well. A drink tray with cups or a my-first-blaster would also be great.

I'll be displaying my Swerve with the getting stepped on by Trypticon face.

Ha. Ya know what, I was debating whether to have white thighs or chrome/metallic, based off a bunch of different reference. Personally, I prefer the white 'toon' thighs, but given FT's random design choices, who knows what we'll end up with.

And so for your viewing pleasure...

Just as long as he isn't pink, I don't care if the thighs are silver or white. Also, we're there other figures that used the Swerve mold? I know Small Foot used Gears' mold but I can't remember off hand if they reused Swerve's mold at some point.

Speaking of pink, I noticed his head was a different color from the rest of him in the screenshot that turbobluestreak shared

As for the Swerve mold itself, as near as I can tell it was only used for Swerve, though with 2 slightly different takes on his deco (just color tweaks).

The Gears version of the mold had 10 known different decos if you count different versions of Gear's colors on it. Gears, 3 decos in Brazil (four if you count a US color release), Mexican Swerve, at least 3 decos made in Argentina but sold in Peru (there have been unsubstantiated claims of 6 of these according to TFWiki), the Encore release (brighter colors), and Small Foot.

Swerve (1986) - Autobot Metallurgist - www.tfu.info (shows Mold #1 Gears and Mold #2 Swerve if you scroll down to Mold History)
Mini Vehicles Swerve (Transformers, G1, Autobot) | Transformerland.com - Collector's Guide Toy Info - has pictures of more of the decos than the above link does.

So you're saying he'll be that one FT figure everyone will still be able to find that even scalpers would be out of their mind to overprice?

YAHR! T3h scale be off! lol

I honestly want that metallic Klaatu as well but the last time I looked other than being sold out perhaps one or two overpriced on eBay. But that was a while ago.

Hell, even the Pathfinder version is hard to come by.

Swerve was a major character in IDW. Even though these are G1 versions, that will still carry weight in creating demand.

Heck, from my perspective I'd think there's more demand for Swerve than there is for Gears. (who sucks from any possible perspective)

I’m actually surprised he’s still available, but I’m glad since I ordered him for 65 shipped on eBay yesterday.

i think Swerve has wider appeal though. He’s not a 2.0 like spindrift so people don’t already own a representation of Swerve (specifically from FT), plus he appeals to both the G1 and IDW crowds.

Forgive the newb question but I've never made a transaction of this nature before- The $15 down gets me the toy upon release or am I just paying to reserve him and when he's released I'll owe more?

Reservation. Price is yet undefined (but it will be some 100-120 USD).

These days you can barely buy a tiny mainline Transformer for $15, that's why the target audience of these Masterpiece Transformers are old farts with disposable income like myself.

Uh, the head is very very poor effort...kinda rethinking him now. He's looking like WFC Cogs there.

I try to find something positive to say about many figures, and I like the way that FT adds articulation to a figure that otherwise is forgettable and frankly, quite unnecessary. Gears, sure, he's S1 and he has some Marvel links, but Swerve? Aside from IDW, he's not that important.

The face sculpt and the hands really bother me at the moment.

That said, I'm sure he'll sell out.

The old G1 toy faces are just so much more retro and Japanese and cooler... I wish they would include these instead of a crappy barely notable different expressions the same crap G1 cartoon face. Screenshot 2022-01-25 at 18.13.26.png
