    I didn’t really enjoy my experience playing Melody of Memory. It was kinda nice to go down memory lane with almost literally every world represented, but the fact that nothing happens until the ending is something that Kingdom Hearts really needs to stop doing. It makes players rush through the game without enjoying it because they don’t want to be spoiled. Arguably this is in place even if the story was actually advanced in the entire game and not just the ending, but I think it’s even more pronounced since for about three games now, KH doesn’t advance the plot for shit until they’re done with the worlds.

    The music of the series is always gonna be one of its best assets though. I still didn’t care to revisit old worlds I’ve grown sick of like Wonderland and Olympus, but every now and then I definitely enjoyed playing through my favorite songs. These included:

    * End of the World and Fragments of Sorrow
    * Guardando Nel Buio
    * Lord of the Castle
    * Vector to the Heavens
    * Darkness of the Unknown
    * Neverland (BBS)
    * Deep Space
    * Rage Awakened
    * Prankster’s Paradise (which remains probably one of my favorite adaptations of a classic Walt era Disney film)
    * Sacred Distance
    * L’Oscurita dell Ignoto
    * I actually had fun playing Let It Go of all songs!!

    It was cool to get Circle of Life in the game, but simultaneously annoying that it only had the first half of the song. Oh but we can have all of Let It Go :lol

    The ending was actually really intimidating to go through and has some pretty major implications for the series. It’s definitely comparable to how Re:coded did nothing for the main plot until the end when Yen Sid revealed Xehanort was coming back. Super important, but just a small footnote at the end.

    When I saw what KH: MoM was gonna be, I immediately made my decision of not getting it. It's not what I wanted.

    After beating Yozora, I’ve been replaying the Data Organization and jeez they are pushovers compared to him. Literally. The only one who killed me even once was Xemnas, everybody else I’ve gotten in one try. Well, I haven’t finished my rematch with Xemnas, and then I have to go back to Master Xehanort and Xion. But the others are pushovers and I barely have to follow the strategies I worked my ass off for a month developing back in the spring. Either way, that was a good, grueling war and I don’t regret a moment.

    It feels amazing that I was able to enter the pantheon of players who beat the single hardest boss of the entire series. Never thought I’d make it.

    Read that apparently only the 3rd game will need to be streamed, but it's stupid to have to stream games on the switch it beats the purpose of having a portable consul.

    I kinda wish they’d take this opportunity to work on a full game remaster of Days while it’s returning to handheld consoles at large.

    Apparently a rhythm game deserved the full game treatment, but not the actual series >:/

    all three main titles are cloud-based streaming since they all are massive file sizes that can't fit on the cartridges, not just III

    I thought kingdom hearts 1 and 2 came out on the ps2 hardly massive sizes.

    ClearlyI was misinformed

    but if they are all cloud games than I have no interest in getting them on the switch,
    1. they will only work with an online connection, meaning I can only play on Wi-Fi or taxing my phone’s data plan
    2. I like to own what I buy and this will at most last two to 3 years 5 at the most before they take down the servers. Hardly worth the money.

    Look... the PS2 games of KH don't really exist anymore. SQUARE LOST THE SOURCE CODE.

    Hell... The only reason we have the Saga collection on the Switch is cause Nintendo gave Square the rom for Secret of Mana as Square lost it.

    Chances are, Square lost the effing source code for the remakes as well.

    While it feels silly in retrospect, there never used to be a market for re-releasing/remastering older video games. And in the few cases where there was a market for it (new editions of Tetris, say), the games were simple enough that they probably could've been rebuilt from scratch without too much issue. So archiving old assets or code was not really on anybody's mind. It would've been for novelty purposes only. And back in the old days of gaming, the disk space would have been a valuable resource as well.

    Braig can go suck it.

    Note to self, Critical Mode BBB HD with Terra was a terrible, terrible idea.

    Dream Drop Distance is interesting so far, I started playing it too since I never got the 3DS version when I could. The problem with the portable titles seems to be how fast it is to play through the worlds and how limited the maps are, when you play on the Consoles it really shows how much better they are for Handheld medium where it's pick up and play for a little bit before doing something else.

    Also I'm not a fan of Frollo's voice in DDD, it sounds too much like Yen Sid for my liking. I get trying to do Tony Jay can be really difficult, but honestly if it were a deeper inflection it would have done wonders to better differentiate between the characters.

    I would NOT want to fight Mysterious Figure with Terra let alone in Critical Mode.

    Yeah, plus the worlds seriously strip down the characters and locations to be as barebones as possible. Festival of Fools but with nobody attending, Pleasure Island with no little kids or donkeys, or absolutely nobody at all in Symphony of Sorcery besides Chernabog and Mickey. I still liked exploring the worlds. Cité des Cloches had kickass music even if they never used Hellfire, Bells of Notre Dame or Kyrie Eleison. The Grid was like stepping into Beast Machines Cybertron, Symphony of Sorcery was still really cool and unique especially for being a world based on such a unique movie like Fantasia.

    Prankster’s Paradise actually was the biggest surprise because I actually enjoyed exploring Pleasure Island. All the colors, lights and rides you can run around on, plus the really happy and upbeat music. I was shocked to see how well an old Disney movie with no fighting translated so well into a Kingdom Hearts level.

    That’s what happens when Corey Burton has to voice every old British character :lol  granted it wasn’t intentional back when he first voiced Yen Sid when Christopher Lee was still alive, but now, well. He’s one of the best but Tony Jay is so specific it’s hard to nail. It’s funny because back in Hunchback, Corey voiced the tall guard who tells Frollo that Esmeralda escaped during Hellfire, and he’ for whatever reason slipped into his Lee voice he wouldn’t start using for several years. Then he got to voice Frollo himself.

    Dammmn

    also I beat Yozora again last night, but with longer summon and regenerating health enabled. I actually lost my Kupo Coin to him and got to witness the fake death animation for the first time on beating his first round. That was a bitter battle indeed. I imagine the player who beat Yozora first after losing their coin had a nasty shock the first time.

    i think the video i posted is actually an edit rather than actual, that channel is known for Kingdom Hearts, Smash Bros, and Final Fantasy shitposts

    still, Cloud Gaming can be super bad. hope no one who fell for the Switch release has bad internet.

    Kingdom Hearts Missing-Link is a mobile game taking place after Union Cross.

    Oh, and Kingdom Hearts IV has been announced.
