Since Iguanus' wheels seem to partsform anyway, this engineering could probably be tweaked so instead of his back, the wheels peg onto his bot legs. And using that engineering/transformation for a new mold could give us a core Wreck-Gar.

- or - Using that engineering/transformation for a new mold except pegging the wheels onto his bot shoulders could give us a new core Cy-Kill that is just different enough not to infringe on the IP for the original Machine Robo toy on which he was based.

And as long as I'm dreaming about Cy-Kill:


I bet that core Starscream/Skywarp mold could be retooled into a close-but-not-infringing Leader 1.

C'mon, Hasbro. You own all the IP except the original Machine Robo toys themselves, so make them just different enough and sell them as a Selects 2-pack. I guarantee they sell out.

Ah, interesting. I wonder if the gimmick for Legacy core class figures will have more combining weapons.

I was really hoping Iguanas was going to be a new iteration of his Beast Wars iteration and we’d get new toys for some of the more obscure Beast Wars characters. I completely forgot about the G1 Pretender version. This is cool too, I guess.

 

I hate Pretenders. But there's something about this Iguanus' gross meat motorcycle aesthetic that just does it for me. I want him, I want him bad.

I want more of this, give me Bludgeon as a weird flesh tank.

This is a fine, scaley weird motorcycle. Kinda was hoping it’d be the inner robot and we’d get the outer shell as its own large figure or something. It’d be cool to see a full-size Iguanus that can turn into a robo Iguana and can split apart as weaponizer armor for the smaller Iguanus.

i'd like to see them take the new pretender approach with the Monster Pretenders. god knows those guys need an update. make then deluxes, merge the shell and robot, let them combine into Monstructor.

Looking at him I'd rather Iguanus be turned into Road Rocket and Arcee into Animated Prowl.

 

If you wanna skin that purple lizard, I’ll certainly wear the boots, but that would be a helluva retool instead of the ready-made one from Arcee.

 

See that's the thing, I'd love to see this retooled so heavily that isn't lizardish anymore I think it'd make them into really cool companion pieces.

I think if I were in charge of deciding how it would work if there were dual functions, I’d go for a small voyager figure with a core sized “shell” on the inside. It’s the opposite of the original concept of course but then the scale would be accurate to the Masterforce cartoon which is how I like my pretenders. There is no one right way to do the pretenders again so I won’t be surprised if we get some other attempt in a few more years.

 

Was never going to be interested in Skywarp, but the weapon choice is a bit perplexing.

Iguanus is more or less what I was expecting given previous releases such as Thunderwing and Bludgeon, but definitely not what I was hoping for.

Right off the top of my head, what I would have done is a sub-line, cross-promotional gimmick.

Transformers Legacy Pretender Cores: core class figures that update the originals with minimal mixing of the pretender shell design with a subtle 3rd mode that compacts the robot mode to a predetermined size constraint.

Transformers R.E.D. Pretender Shells: RED style figures with a central compartment that can hold a compact Legacy Pretender Core figure in its compact 3rd mode.

This way people that want the core robots can get them, people that just want the shells can still have a pretty complete play experience, and those that want both to recreate the original play pattern can do so as well.
Just my two cents.

 

Thank Primus we got the Reptile Monster/Lizard Bike combo, instead of Generic Robot/Random Sci Fi bike we would have gotten if Hasbro just used the inner robot to be G1 accurate.
