If they want to concentrate on Pretenders for core class instead of the familiar characters we already have 3 to 10 of that'd be fine by me.

I'm happy with iguanas. Would have liked a little more inner robot pink, and what little is there looks more maroon, but oh well, still like him a lot.

And Skywarp, dammit I'm gonna end up getting Skywarp for whatever stupid weapon you make out of his accessory aren't I?

Iguanus is killer. If this is how they do pretenders going forward, I'm in.

iguanus sure is trying to be a coherent toy, but ends up being kind of a mess. why partsform the bike if it's not even going to look like it can hold together as a vehicle? why not just make two separate toys if the alt mode and transformation are that compromised? i also wish he matched gen skullgrin and thunderwing in making the pretendery bits a little more robotic, but at least it looks cool.

skywarp tore out his own lungs for some reason. i guess that's fine as long as he doesn't mind.

One idea I had was a Deluxe or so sized figure you armor up with the Pretender shell. But the shell also doubles as modular armor for figures with 5MM ports.

But even that would be a stretch, because it's a "small" figure with accessories. So I dunno if that flies at a Voyager price with limited slots at retail.

Iguanus looks pretty great, even if I think his alt-mode looks a little clunky. :lol  It'll probably grow on me. Skywarp is decent too.

Yeah, I’m on board with Pretenders (especially Decepticons) having their monstery shells just BE their robot mode, and then transforming into whatever pseudo-vehicle mode the inner bots used to have. If you’re gonna ditch any part of the G1 Pretenders, the inner bot’s look is the one to pick; they were pretty generic designs, and most people probably remember the Pretenders based more on their shells anyway.

Good to see Skywarp has his classic, uh…. molten slingshot? Giant cartoon magnet? Red-hot tuning fork? Infected tongs?

    Right?

It's always SOOOOOOO close, yet no cigar whenever these new figures in new lines are released.

Perhaps they're designed to hold the energon weapons from the larger classes. I don't necessarily agree that Hasbro needs to insert unnecessary gimmicks into what's essientially aimed at collectors, though.

Weren't there a few Autobot ones that had fairly unique bots? Like animal faces and stuff on the chest?

I do like how Iguanus's look reminds me a bit of Transmetals 1 where the idea of the Transformers having mechnical alt modes but organic look robot modes.

Iguanus has ankle tilts! I’ve not been too familiar with the previous Core class figures so I’m sorry if some of the others do, but I’m pretty impressed they managed to fit this into such a small figure.

I was already picking him up, but he actually looks even better than I thought he would.

Iguanus is the coolest thing the Generations line has done in a long time for me. Creative and classic at the same time.

That's not what Core is though. They flat out said the goal of Core was well known characters at lower prices and easier transformations for kids.

That's why with the exception of Rattrap, Ravage, and the two Fossilizers they've all been out of scale G1 dudes.

I'm legitimately impressed by how Con heavy Core has been. Typically they've shyed away from baddies getting too full up in a line.

If it wasn't for just how badly the originals did (seriously, as a buyer for a small chain back then, the much maligned G2 sold WAY better in our stores than any of the Pretenders....which ALL had to be clearanced out) I might agree. I had several sets at one point and gave a set to my then stepson...he played with the shells like crazy but hated the inner bots...pretty sure he gave them away...many years and another relationship later I gave my own son a set with the same results, loved the shells but hated the inner bots. The only exception...MONSTRUCTOR

Seems to me, the shells hold all the nostalgia factor.
