Ooh, curious to see the new Samurai X Mech. Still have the original hanging out here in the ole cave.
No more pot leaf wings! I’ll probably rework the tail soon too, but I did manage to make it more compact.
Treated myself to the big Creator Castle set this month. I think it's pretty fantastic, and a real shame Lego has kind of given up on doing Castle as a theme. I had a few smaller sets as a kid, and then collecting as an adult I kinda stuck with the smaller sets for space and budget reasons - this is actually the largest castle I own! I haven't and probably won't build the alternate forms, but on its own merits the 'proper' castle build is pretty well packed. It's a dense build, it has a couple features that don't get in the way, it closes up despite all the detailing, and I really like the color schemes and references. Yellow/brown/dark blue goes well with the grey, and the shades of green in the terrain blend well along with the touches of foliage. The Black Falcon shields are an obvious reference, and generic as they may be the red and white banners kind of point back to the 2010 Kingdoms good guy knights (field gules quartered argent, if I'm not totally misremembering the teminology). The detailing all around is just delightful, including the little side build for the well, narrowed arrow slits, crenellations, and of all things this is the first set I own that officially has a privy. The jail cell is simple, but also a tradition, which is fine - and a darkside thought: given the number of skeletons in jail cells in the fantasy themes, does anyone ever get out of prison? Our unfortunate skeleton certainly didn't find the breakaway wall in time. I also really like the variety of brick-built birds, from the raven black falcon to the chickens to the blacksmith's weather vane. The drawbridge mechanism is easy to keep smooth and works great, there's plenty of walkway space for minifigures, and even if the indoor spaces are a little cramped they're at least mostly accessible. And then there's the little wyvern on the side, a great inclusion for play value and not a bad build in its own right considering how many pieces go into it! The only nitpicks I have in the actual construction of this form of the set are really that the front gate torches are prone to popping off, and the shield above the drawbridge sticks out a little far for my tastes - you can set it a little further back by reversing the technic pin it's slotted into but it's still a little janky. Yeah, there are no ladders into the towers or anything, but that's a 'feature' of Lego castles since how long? As far as value goes, I think it's quite solid even not taking into account being a 3-in-1. Price to part ratio is so wonky in recent years because so many of those parts are 1x1 dots and tiles and things. I did think of one interesting breakdown as I was building the modules: okay, MSRP full price is $100 USD. The little wyvern could very easily be a mini Creator set itself, say one of $10 ones. The blacksmith shop module, specifically, feels like it could also have been a separate set with little modification itself, maybe $25-30. Be generous and say $30. So is the rest of the set, the front facade and a couple wall sections worth the remaining $60 of MSRP? I think so. The one thing I think I can actually ding this set for, albeit something easily remedied as an adult collector - I think it needed one more minifigure; if piece count is an issue, I'd readily give up the well, cute as it is. The reason is simple: whose castle is this? You have guards, a smith, a room with a fancy chair and a fireplace, and a wyvern. That's it. I would have loved to see a new-style noble, or a fully-kitted fancy knight separate from the guards and the armor pieces in the blacksmith's shop. Heck, if I really had my druthers, give them a horse too, but we all know what bigger animal molds do to set prices. Or since the set has the wyvern (and the tower alternate build), make the extra figure a new wizard! Any of these options-in-thought would still have fit in nicely with any of the set's builds, and it's a shame that one didn't come to pass. Still, quite highly recommended.
Another wing revision—similar size/look but more technic parts than system (also lighter and fewer parts)
Ninjago always catches my attention and a few of these def have mine as usual Like how things are going, I do like the first wing revision over the tech one, I was actually curious on would it have been better to develop a more leafier wing by using 3 leafs per wing to give a thicker wing look you could always use the lego feathers too as seen in the Chima sets I always wanted to recreate this moc
Thank for the feedback! Yeah I love those wing parts, I need to order some from BrickLink. I think the leaf parts could work for a more plant/forest themed bird but I’m going for a more mechanical look. Latest iterations include a new tail and some minor adjustments to the face:

The henhouse sounds tempting too.
Little disappointed about a recent rumor I heard about Boba Fett's Palace. Spoiler They said it's actually based off of the last scene in the Mandalorian season 2, It's going to be called Bib Fortuna's Palace and it will include Bib Fortuna.
Years ago, he built a city out of blocks. Today, over six hundred thousand people live and work there.
On a more positive note the clone/hoth rebel minifigure packs seem to be showing up at US Lego stores now, gonna hit the one at my mall tomorrow
High-speed passenger train has my attention. The new $20 set is like a TGV/ICE (French/German) hybrid, so maybe the big one will be Japanese styled?
Final draft for now. Might tweak it slightly in the future, but I’m satisfied with the parts and colors I have on hand. Bonus pics
