It looks like even Temuera Morrison gets it.

‘The Book Of Boba Fett’ Star Thinks Boba Fett Is Talking Too Much

So far, I've definitely enjoyed Boba Fett more in the Mandalorian episodes he appeared in than in his own show.

There's also articles where members of the cast (Ming Na Wen in this particular one) say to wait till the finale to pass judgement on the show because you might see it in a different light afterwards
Star Wars Fans Will See Book of Boba Fett in a New Light Post-Finale, Says Ming-Na Wen

Also, Boba talks a good bit during his appearances during Clone Wars

The dialogue is definitely off though. A character doesn’t have to be silent to be focused, alert, and forward driven. I feel like so many writers in the industry these days have no concept of: show me, don’t tell me.

Difficulty: Jon Favreau is writing these episodes. Not sure how he's missing the mark so much here.

It is strange isn’t it. Maybe it’s a case of him writing the storyboard but not dialogue? Idk. Seems strange that it’s so different from the mandalorian, but also so different from what is clearly a widely established concept of how boba fett is as a character. It’s like the introduced him as one way in the mandalorian, only to change him quite a bit in bobf.

Something just tells me there are differences between the script itself and how it is being directed, causing cues not to be landed and so on.

Well, yeah, but he was a child. Adult Boba, having lived a long life of various experiences, should be a bit more disciplined and focused than the actual kid who had no idea what he was doing at first.

And we've got almost 0 perspective on his adult life, so we really don't know what kind of character he is, even through his brief appearances in the original trilogy.

Let's suppose for arguements sake that the finale is going to be spectacular. That leaves 6 episodes before the finale, and the half we've seen so far are meh at best. Given what we've seen so far, there's nothing to indicate that they're going to get better. What good is a show with 6 bad episodes and a good finale? Even with what we've seen so far, 3 out of 7 episodes suck. Even if the last 4 episodes are awesome, that's not a good ratio.

I don't care whose name is listed on the credits, this show reeks of Disney meddling.

Then don't watch the last 4 if you've already made up your mind

Point I was making (that you missed) was that Favreau obviously knows his Star Wars shit, as shown with The Mandalorian. And he obviously knows how to handle characters, given his career.

Studio meddling is often about more conventional storytelling and more things to make into toys and stuff like that. Boba Fett's constant flashbacks and lack of action actually feel, to me, like the studio is way hands-off. I don't know what there is about this show that feels like what Disney would want. I get there's a lot of knee-jerk Disney hate, but I don't think "studio meddling" explains this show at all.

Then it would've been real cool if this show gave us that perspective and showed him as a more reserved, quiet, and calculating bounty hunter like everyone thinks he is. (and more crucially, wants him to be)

Maybe this show shouldn't have worked backwards from a conclusion. They made a very boring, overly talkative Fett and want to explain that, rather than just making the character the way he ought to be.

What's so wrong with just... making a good show? Why fix what isn't broken? People were excited for a Boba show because we have an idea of who Boba is, and this is not it.

Boba had less than 7 minutes of screen time in the original trilogy and only 4 lines of dialogue. The character most people thinks he is is apparently not who he really is, least as far as Disney canon goes. I've mentioned this prior in the thread, but it seems like they might be going with a bit of nature/nurture with the clones (including Boba) since Boba is coming across as very similar to a lot of the Clone Troopers, just with more disregard for rules and regulations.

But they didn't make this show based on the popularity of who he "actually" is. They made it because Boba is super popular, and his popularity lies in his cool look, his lack of dialogue, and storytelling potential as a badass rogue bounty hunter.

Things he does not posses in this show. I find it immensely joyless to look at something as potentially fun as Boba Fett and think "what this character really needs is to talk too much and do very little, and not be all that capable or interesting in the world he inhabits."

Again, you can give any number of justifications for why Boba is the way he is in this show, but the bottom line is it's not fun to watch. It reminds me too much of how the Bad Batch did basically fuck all in the first season of their show despite being this theoretically awesome team of cool individuals.

Again, maybe you should either let the show run it's course and judge the finished product as a whole or just drop the show if you find it so joyless.

They very obviously wanted to show off who they think Boba is as a character, so that is absolutely a core aspect of the show, and it's apparent that there's a disconnect between what you wanted and what reality gave you.

Well I'm enjoying it so far at least, even with some of the things in it that I don't like.

Seriously....what was up with those bikes? :lol
