Okay, thanks for the info as always. Hopefully some of these gimmick toys are decent or okay then. But I kind of doubt it, either way, we're gonna get our first look at a lot of characters

So it was the plan to reveal wave 1 at NYTF then? I guess we can expect a FFF next month then.

Not that this means anything, or is breaking news but I was a little worried that the Maximals might not have robot modes. I thought they probably would but who nows with these films. but I feel like this confirms that they will have robot modes
Probably, if not as a Fan Fest like last year maybe London Toy Fair or FFF.

I knew they would just didn't know if they would just make the Maximal just animal TF's (kind of like that TLK Primal art).

@SilverOptimus since the toyline is coming out early, do you think that the movie will be released earlier?

I’d like to think they wouldn’t get Ron Perlman to just portray an animalistic robot gorilla akin to the AoE Dinobots’ personality.

I think they would still have they're show personalities/personalities, unlike the Bayverse Dinobots. Just they'd be animal robots and not transforming robots.

I'd be shocked if they actually managed to give everybody decent characterization. As stated before, there's almost a dozen new characters (all five beasts, three terrorcons, three new Autobots) in addition to this being pushed as being an Optimus Prime feature film, so that's a LOT of characters to handle without even touching on the human leads occupying most of the screen time. An AoE Dinobots situation is very likely, unfortunately.

I didn’t like how AoE treated the Dinobots as an afterthought. However, since Ron Perlman is doing Optimus Primal. I would like to think some effort will be done with him. Since he does have written lines.

I have a feeling this movie will have more screentime for the bots than the human characters (compared to all the previous movies)

I hope they realized that people go to see them for the robots.

Doubtful. I've seen plenty of things where big name actors are in things simply to plaster their names on the promotional material. Case in point - THIS terrible film:

Yes, that is Pat Morita of Karate Kid fame. And yes, he's in it...barely. He shows up as some foreign investor big wig visiting the main character because of some business thing the main character has been ignoring the entire film in favor of taking his kid's Pinewood Derby competition far too seriously (which somehow ends up saving his job because EVERYONE in this film are two-dimensional morons) - and this happens before the actual climax of the film which Pat Morita is not involved with whatsoever. I have to mention that because Pat Morita only gets three lines in the brief scene he's in, all of which are him shouting "RACECAR!" or something. There is nothing he does in the film that could not have been done by somebody far less expensive than Pat fucking Morita. And insultingly, this was one of his last roles he got credit for while still alive.

TLK did the exact same shit. Sure, Anthony Hopkins is a legendary actor, but was he really necessary for what amounted to some old English guy spouting exposition and then dying? It wasn't a nuanced role like, say, Dr. Ford from Westworld S1 and S2, which I simply can't imagine being played by anybody else because of the nuanced range he employs with that complex character.

And of course, we come back to Lorenzo di-fucking-Bonaventura. Back in 2007, the whole catalyst for the Peter Cullen story I repeat often was because Lorenzo didn't think Cullen had any draw as a voice actor. He wanted Liam Nielsen purely because he felt that name was far more well known. Here...was Gary Chalk even approached for being Primal? You know, the other well known voice of Optimus Primal/Prime who voiced the good guy leader all the way from Beast Wars through CYBERTRON. We potentially could have gotten the two most famous Optimus voices on the silver screen at the same time reprising their original roles....and instead we get just a more well known in general celebrity for what I am certain are the exact same reasons as why Lorenzo wanted Liam Nielsen nearly 20 years ago over PETER FUCKING CULLEN and his voice that defined childhoods.

I've learned that when it comes to actors, you can't always expect them to be important parts of the film just because they get their names on the poster. Often the most important thing they do for films is be a name on the poster.

With such a cast they should really focus on balancing and prioritizing the more important characters like they did in Bumblebee. Like, I don’t think we need the bad guy tow truck to have some Shakespearian motive, but I’d at least hope that most of the prominent Autobots, Terrorcons, and Maximals have some depth.

A good example is Shatter and Dropkick, they didn’t really have too much of a character outside of being after Bumblebee, but their little banter moments really made them all that much more enjoyable and distinguished them from being mindless drones or monstrous beasts. If they did that sort of thing for the minor characters and saved the deeper characterization for the heavy-hitters like Scourge, Mirage, Primal, or Nightbird, I’d be happy with that.
