Anybody know a site that is still selling this ? I bought the shout! release for Headmasters and Masterforce back then but somehow never got around to complete the trilogy. Now I realized it’s discontinued and selling for crazy prices on ebay.

I don’t usually like bumping old threads, but does anybody know where I could find this ? Perhaps I should ask in the wanted section, maybe someone has one for sale..

That's like $40 USD. Probably a decent price now, all things considered, as long as the site doesn't murder on shipping halfway around the world.

Can't find anything on there about postage prices, but if I were being optimistic it'll probably be nearly as much as the dvd, plus you might have to pay import tax as well. Depends on how much AtomicGarden has to spend but after a quick search on eBay I didn't see any legit set's for sale. But yeah that's probably the best price going.

Yeah. $20 is probably a pretty fair international mail price. Not sure if there would be import fees. I can't remember the last time I had any import fees on any media stuff under like $100 and I've bought from multiple places around the world.

Victory is probably as worth it as any of the JPG1 series. It was certainly the series I had the most fun with out of the 3 from the 80s. Though admittedly that's not a super high bar considering I thought Headmasters was awful and Masterforce was merely kind of OK.

In the UK unless it's coming through Amazon US or Japan I get hit on import tax on pretty much everything these days, unless the sender has put a really low value on it. So at least you guy's across the pond have it nice ! Still potentially $60 on this set isn't bad.

Agreed of the three this is probably worth the price. Honestly I've only watched them once and it's been a long time since then, but what I remember was liking Headmasters, Masterforce being terrible and Victory not living up to the hype but still being enjoyable (remember the mystery and hype amongst the fandom before the Metrodome release?).

I can't say I've bought anything from Europe, but assorted DVDs I've bought from Asia have generally come with no import fees. I think the last thing I got fees on was the special Matrix Edition G1 set from Shout directly, meaning it crossed the border from the US into Canada. But that was like $100 or more.

Yeah, Headmasters was supposed to be the greatest thing ever. It was so violent and had Blaster and Soundwave fight to the death! I remember trying to watch some awful pirate torrent of VHS recordings of the Omni dub in the mid 2000s.

and then you watch the series and it's a long, boring slog where every single big, ballsy, game-changing thing the show did was either undone or forgotten about within a couple episodes. For cripes' sake they blew up Mars and then forgot about it so hard that it was back in place by the end of the series.

That's alright then, at least you're not having to shill out everytime, the Shout Matrix boxset is definitely worth that little bit extra, as far as presentation goes it's the best out there, although I'm not sure what the best is in terms of content, there's so many to choose from these days.

Yeah Headmasters definitely had that return to status quo pretty much every episode, but there's still some good stuff in there, like the build up and final fight between Ultra Magnus and Sixshot, Daniel and Sixshots relationship, Counterpunch actually being a spy, and Rodimus Prime saying f**k it I'm out after the destruction of Cybertron. The humour being incredibly slapstick more so than any of the other series to that point worked against it. And the Omni dub, was certainly some kind of English. Masterforce from memory also suffered from the return to status quo as quickly as possible, can't remember much other than that. Victory was supposed to be THE Transformers cartoon! But it ended up being such a farce, but an enjoyable one, compared to the hype. Overall Headmasters had it's ups and downs, Masterforce felt like such a slog and directionless, Victory was a balance of both, but each one had gorgeous animation and at least tried different things, but weren't always successful.

Also sorry to highjack the thread, but was that link useful @AtomicGarden ?
