I was taking the piss based upon what I recall of Bay's quickly-retracted rant on his blog.

I personally have no doubt bay's farther along than some fans would have you believe, but you have to keep in mind a lot of what they could be doing, and how the process works. Barricade being back also fits with what some of the clamorings have been about. And I'm sorry, but I don't trust Don Murphy or Desanto. Even if it was Bay's rant that was pulled, those two have a mild history of just trying to hype stuff up blindly with no forethought. That one Bay didn't pull at all when asked. Hence why this time around they are far more cautious... Bay has stated on more than one occasion, that Murphy and his vision are different, and that while he thanks him for helping get this project off the ground, he has no real interaction on set, and even the writers got frustrated at him for attempting to take a writing credit. Bay had also stated many of Murphy's notes didn't get used, as they didn't match up to his vision. That has been reiterated also in interviews albeit nicely instead of pissy.

Or do you still believe them when they say the dinobots are coming back still among many other boasts they've made? When bay says no?

But who knows, we'll see when when the movie hits.

Heck in TF2 starscream could actually say 'Megatron, but I made sure you died at their hands!' or something, and fans still argue about if it was him that hit megs with a missle load in the first movie. These photos at least go hand in hand with the other rumblings of bay looking over previous designs on what to use again in the sequel, and not to mention how much he adores police car chases anyway.

 

Why are so many people adament that all the TF's are going to have brand new alt modes? Just because this is typically what happens during the ANIMATED shows, doesn't mean it's the same for the movie. This movie franchise has millions of CASUAL fans across the world, if every bloody robot changed his form people will get confused instantly and thus be put off the film.

I forsee the ONLY bot to possibly get an update is Megatron scanning an earth alt-mode. No, Prime will not scan a new mode, nor will Bumblebee, or Barricade, or anyone else. For new cars/planes/whatever we have new characters for those.

 

We need to keep in mind that even if the bots keep the same alt modes in TF2, Hasbro can produce brand new (more accurate) toys to represent the characters.

Barricade's plastic representation would benefit from that.

Keep in mind also though, as the story goes any bot can change barring the ones that need to stay in a certain disguise. Like BB shouldn't change, as Sam's friends or people around him may notice a new car. But prime and ironhide and ratchet are more or less free from said restriction. Decepticons could in theory bounce between whatever suits their needs, as the vehicles themselves for a war can vary so long as the characterization is clear on who it is. But then again this is also war, and war is Chaotic. So who knows.

I'd expect this from them, or at least better retools to go along with new molds. If they keep this as a better secret than last time, they could have the first wave as all retools or first movie revisions for the second film, then bam, a wave of who needed updated, or color swappings for chameleon effects in a chase etc. The ideas are limitless. IE, BB running from barricade, hide, turns red so barricade won't see him. Turns back to yellow once he leaves. Perfect cliffjumper nod, and new paint job for a toy excuse. xD

Or stealth BB, Nightwatch Prime etc. Keep in mind while it may get confusing, so long as they adhere to the typical audio visual cues and directorial angles to show off the why, even the slowest of people will catch on.


On this note also though, think of how many luke skywalkers there are, among other star wars figures that have been repeated to death. I don't see the TF movie being treated any differently than that.

 

I hope Barricade calls Sam "Ladiesman217" every time he sees him. Like he thinks that's his name.

 

Sweet!!@ SO glad Barricade will be back.. hopefully he will have a bigger part in TF2 than he did in the last. Maybe Keith David will do his voice this time, that would be awesome.

I was just wondering if anyone had noticed that the third Mustang on the trailer is missing its strobes on top. I was thinking maybe barricade tries out a few different looks on his way to the "Recon Barricade" look of the toy... thoughts?

 

YEAH!! Barricade is back in the sequel movie! I hope they add soundwave as character in this one except Frenzy

 

That would be the funniest thing they could do in the whole movie!!!

 

ZOMFG I just realized...there were 3 of them...they must definitely have plans for an insane explosion filled car chase/action sequence.
